TECHCO Cold Air Intake Installation Pics - '09 Challenger R/T

Today I received the first Techco cold air intake kit, for installation and testing on our '09 Challenger R/T. The installation took about an hour and the kit included everything we needed, and the parts were so well-crafted! We took a bunch of pics every step of the way, so this will be a long read, but as comprehensive as possible for anyone wanting to install the Techco kit. At the end of this post, there is a link to a video of the new "wooshing" from this kit, too!

Installation Process:

Remove your factory air box and tubing. For instructions on how to do that, click here: http://www.bmcperformance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1324

When you begin this installation, your engine bay should look like this:

Place the o-ring into the groove on the non-tapered billet housing, and line it up with the 3 holes on the outside of the air box:

Place the tapered billet housing on the inside of the air box, lining up the holes with those on the box:

Using a 5/32" hex, plus the included bolts and washers, connect the two billet pieces to the air box and to each other as shown:

Billet housing is now attached to the filter shield:

Attached the hump silicone hose connector:

Slide the worm gear clamp over the rubber end of the filter and install the filter onto the billet housing on the inside of the air box. Tighten the clamp.

Slide the air box assembly into place, making sure the tab on the back of the box slides into the clips on the coolant tank.

Line up the tab on the bottom of the air box with the hole in the inner fender. Make sure the air box tab goes under the hose/wire down there. Insert the black push pin into the hole of the tab on the air box, through the hole in the fender.

Slide the pipe into the hump connector, which is already mounted to the air box. Do not tighten the clamp yet.

Install the stock intake air sensor into the hole on the 90* elbow.

Slide the larger end of the 90* elbow onto the pipe heading to the air box, with the smaller end to the throttle body. Be sure there are clamps on both end of the elbow. Tighten the clamp onto the throttle body, but do not tighten the clamp to the pipe yet.

Position the pipe in between the 90* elbow and silicone hump from the air box so that the plug for the breather hose is pointing toward the rear of the car. Once you have the pipe positioned, tighten the clamps on either end of it.

Don't forget to plug in your intake air temperature sensor back in, and connect the included breather hose from the intake pipe to the engine. I took this opportunity to install a Billet Tech catch can and BMC Performance braided hose kit, as well as a matching braided breather hose kit. Here is how ours turned out - prior to being fully cleaned up and all (the light hitting the elbow and silicone hump connector make them look grey, but they match the black of the pipe):

Special thank you to Carlos at Techco for this great kit! The components are high quality and very well crafted. I love the look of the kit and can't wait to see how it does on the dyno this Friday! The engine and exhaust sound inside while driving is noticeably louder, so I will keep you guys posted on the performance results! It gets the audible and seat-of-the-pants review of an A+.
