Well I stumbled onto a possible IAT (Intake Air Sensor connector ) variant issue and need some help from you to determine a "pattern of use" as they relate to model and build date.

Seems the IAT (Intake Air Sensor) in use on 2009 Challengers RT/SRT are not all the same, so far I have found 2 versions.

If you can please post;
1.) What type of IAT connector you have (see below for description) Grey or Black)
2.) What is your build date
3.) Is your car an RT or SRT
4.) Is your car an auto or manual

What I need to do is get an idea if there is a reason for the switch in the type of IAT (see pics below)

Your IAT is located close to the throttle valve.

An easy way to determine which one you have is by the color of plastic used in its construction.

Version 1 (common)
As found on all LX with 5.7 and 6.1 engines cars 2005-08

Version 2, the anomaly
As found on a RT Challenger (6sp) build date 10/08

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Lance.

Well lance already has my answer but I'll post it up in case it helps one of our super geniuses figure out the pattern:

Mine is a 10/08 build R/T 6 spd I have the 1st version IAT.

LANCE, did you mean 08-09 instead of 09-10?
Do you have a pic of the 2nd version plugged into the sensor?

My 6-speed 2009 R/T was built 10/08 and has the 'common' IAT.

Ok I feel like a total moron, I just looked and I have the second kind. Guess my memory isn't as good as I thought.

Alright, I'll join you in the moron club. Your post made me go out and look at mine and I have the grey one too. The throttle body harness has the red locking clip and I installed the throttle body and CAI at the same time, I knew I dealt with one of those red locking clips though! Sorry for the incorrect information.

Hey, I also wanted to throw a Big Fat Thanx out to Lance for calling me back to answer a few basic questions about his product as well as informing me of a basic plan of attack when modifying my car according to my needs!!! To me, that goes above and beyond Customer Service, and technically, I'm not even a customer (YET!!!). LOL!

ARIA 'Grey' sensor particulars after my recent install; it is a 1/4 twist counter-clockwise turn to remove the IAT from the original stock intake housing. Additionally, I purchased some grommets from the local hardware store to mount the IAT in the subframe near the intake filter. The grey IAT does not have the grommet like the black one evidently does; just a small blue O-ring that won't provide purchase for mounting elsewhere...cheers, P1.
