I'm starting to get a not so good feeling from here. The guy that sold us the car two weeks ago yesterday is gone already. We didn't get an owner's manual when we bought the car because "they took the first one that came in and gave it to the service department and have been passing them down ever since". They were supposed to order us one. We don't have our tags yet and we don't have anything else that usually comes with the owner's manual, tire warranty info etc.

I down loaded the owner's manual today from Dodge's website. Seems that we were supposed to get a PIN when we bought the car so that if we lost a key/key fob they could create a new one for us. Now I'm wondering if that's something assigned by the dealer or the factory. If it was assigned by the factory are all the PINs that were given out from this dealership for the Challenger that just came on the lot rather than the one that the person is buying?

I'm going to call the sales manager tomorrow, again. I'll let you know what he says.

You got my curiosity up. First I've heard about a PIN. Keep us informed.....

At the time of purchase, the original owner is provided
with a four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN).
Keep the PIN in a secure location. This number is
required for authorized dealer replacement of RKE transmitters.
Duplication of RKE transmitters may be performed
at an authorized dealer or by using the Customer
Key Programming procedure. This procedure consists of
programming a blank transmitter to the vehicle electronics.
A blank transmitter is one that has never been
programmed.

Not sure about the requirement of the PIN. When I bought the car I had only 1 fob. I went back the following week to have the alignment checked and get the other fob they owed me. They programmed the new one without me providing a PIN unless they had it on file. It may be required for programming without having the car available. Need to do a little research.

I'm going to ask the sales manager about it tomorrow and I'll post back. We got two fobs with our car. Do you know that you can roll the windows down with the remote? :)

Yup, great feature. I have found that the doors will unlock a lot further away than rolling the windows down though.

Got our owner's manual today finally. It seems that State Line is having some employee turn over issues. I haven't asked about the PIN yet but I have to call them back and thank them for sending the manual and to ask about a dealer specific warranty so I'll read up on the PIN thing and ask then.

Never heard of the pin either...Had mine in for two new fobs, they did the fobs and a flash, that was it...sign the paperwork and off you go...Not sure about the requirement of the PIN. When I bought the car I had only 1 fob. I went back the following week to have the alignment checked and get the other fob they owed me. They programmed the new one without me providing a PIN unless they had it on file. It may be required for programming without having the car available. Need to do a little research.

I've looked through all my paperwork and do not see a PIN. Either they did not give it to me or I've done something with it.

When I was ready to order my Challenger I stopped in to State Line to place an order. After I was in the chair discussing the terms of my order, they proceeded to tell me that it was going to cost me an additional $5000 dollars for this car. When I asked if it cost them more to order this particular car or since I would be picking it up as soon as it arrived if it would cost them anything to sit on their lot, they said no. When I asked why they were charging the extra $5000 dollars (above invoice), they said "well because we can". Needless to say, I drove 10 minutes north to another Dodge dealer and ordered my car at a fair price without the $5000 "because we can" fee. Actually the salesman I ordered my car from said he has heard other customers tell him they experience the same thing from State Line.

Sad thing about this story is the dealer that I ordered my Challenger from was a victim of the Chryler bankrupcy and has since been shut down. However, I guarantee you I will drive past State Line for any future car purchases or maintenance.

I bought my car from State Line and it was a nightmare, I called them them to ask the price of the car, the guy gave me the internet price over the phone, which was right at sticker, so I went down there the first thing they tried to do was mark up the 5000 and I told them I was leaving because i had already been quoted a price they checked my story and honored the price I was giving. I had the CU check to pay for the car bugt the check wasn't quite enigh to cover everything so I told them I would come the next buisness day after i got back with my Credit Union to get the difference, they told me I didn't need to do that because they dealt with my CU all the time and they could handle it there, well after I left they financed my car with a completely different bank, causing me to have to go through my CU to refinance 2 weeks later( thats when I found this out) so i could get the INT rate i wanted plus auto draft, and it doesn't end there, but now my freaking blood pressure is up just rehashing this, I need a BEER. needless to say they suck. WHERES THE TYLENOL!!!
