the August issue of Mopar Muscle magazine has an article in it with details of the drag pack cars...

from the article:

Mopar has been talking to NHRA, and in the works is an NHRA-sanctioned Stock Eliminator Challenger with a planned one time offering only!! With only 100 cars scheduled to be built at the Brampton plant in Canada. The in primer BIW (Body In White) is shipped to a U.S. supplier that will do all the welding of new brackets, removal of unnecessary sheet metal, and so on, and then install the powertrain, interior and chassis components. The vehicle as delivered does not run. Some of the harnesses are installed, but the fuel system is not. As the engines in most configurations will be running carburetors, there is no need to have the high pressure fuel system from the production car. Also, the current location of the fuel tank would be in the way of the five-link solid axle suspension that all racers will install, after throwing away the V-6 supplied rear suspension assembly that allows the vehicle to be a roller. This means the customers will pickup the vehicle with a trailer and take them back to their shops to finish the required modifications for the NHRA class they choose to run in. Delivery of the cars is scheduled for July 2008.
ONLY racers that are currently campaigning a car will be allowed to purchase the race prepped Challenger.

so I guess this means that the rest of us who are not "currently" racing in the NHRA are not going to be able to get the drag pack options...

Well at least we know we'll be seeing videos of them. Now that has to stir up the pot with the other auto manufactures though. I can't wait to see what they do with them?

Saw a commercial yesterday on ESPN touting the Challenger drag pack!
Everytime I look at the video I have to turn my speakers up to the max.
Something about the sound of that hemi. American muscle

you cant get that kind of an exhaust note out of a civic or camry... NOTHING sounds as sweet as bad ass V8 when you push the pedal down...
