Big Howdy from San Antonio, Tx. got my 09 Challenger R/T around a month ago. The dealer told me that after 400K miles the car will recalibrate itself and you wil pick up and additioanl 30-35 hp. Did anyone else get this info and understand how that works, do you end up with 400HP after the 400K break in?

Another San Antonian!! Welcome. Not too sure on the recalibration adding extra HP (definitely not that much) but there are folks on this board that will be able to answer those types of questions!!

Welcome to the ForumZ from Oklahoma.. I think your dealer might be blowing a little smoke.. Recalibration and 30-35HP ain't gonna happen brother. You are gonna have to add some mods to get that kind of increase

    400K recal??

Now THAT is a first for that tidbit. 400K miles, now that is 400,000 miles? Whats that about 20 years of 20,000/yr. driving? By that time the salesman would have long been retired.... and you would be on your 2nd or third motor?

I think that salesman was in KaHoots with the eBay guy and his 100HP module that installs in less that 5 min's and uses two connectors.....

Welcome from S.C.The recommended break in is 500 miles. I believe the salesman is blowing smoke in dark places. Way too much improvement and here's what the Challenger engineers say about improvement. Nothing about a bunch of additional HP.

We typically recommend that you simple avoid hard, red line launches for the break in period, at least 400 miles. Normal city and / or highway driving is fine. Break in is realy more more critical for your differential than your engine. Your engine will likely continue to loosen up for up to 2500 miles, with performance improving.

Meant to say 4K miles got carried away with the zero's, if you have one of the brochures on the Hemistry page it does say "while the 6 speed manual transmission incresses output to 375 HP and 404 lb-ft torque - 30-35 more horsepower. Very vague and confusing.

Welcome! You will never get "dealer information" here. The info comes from places like long time pro's, technicians, insiders and best of all people who have done exactly what you are doing before. Practically every mod has a thread where someone takes pictures putting it in. It's like Challenger heaven. Have fun, good luck with your ride and ALWAYS come here with questionable dealer jargon. These guys will set the story straight.

(my dealer told me regular gas for my track pak r/t..... jerk)

Perhaps they were talking about the increase from the previous 5.7 engine which would make sense !:naughty:

Welcome to the forumZ from South Florida, its great to have you here:wavey:

That is the craziest thing I have ever heard..... what is getting "Recalibrated" @ 400K ? I can't even imagine a salesman trying to tell me that. I can't believe he past that line on you..... you will be lucky to even have the motor last that long without issues
