I have to slip the clutch so much to just try to back up into my drive way,I'm afraid of ruining the clutch disc. Even just idling backing up kills the engine.

Anyone experiencing this have a clue? Nobody else does.

No problems like that on mine, maybe it is the hill assist?

Put it in neutral and try to push the car forward and backward by hand, it should roll freely. Your parking brake shoes may be hanging up.

When I first got the car I noticed it was easier to stall out in reverse than in first gear. I'm a little easier with the clutch when backing up, but generally no issues.

Either you're letting the clutch out too quickly or like Tom said your parking brake could be hanging up a little and dragging the engine down.
