I purchased a 2010 dodger challenger a couple months ago and I went to change the oil. I purchased the oil filter for the 5.7 engine only to find that it was too big to fit. I had to take the one off the car to the store just to find which one I needed. Turns out its the one for the v6 engine. Just trying to see if anyone has an explanation for this and if it will be a problem for my engine.

Just trying to see if anyone has an explanation for this and if it will be a problem for my engine.
A 2010 is either a SRT 6.1 or 5.7 R/T or a 3.5 V6 which is an SE.

My wife’s 2019 300c 5.7 takes a different than my 2010 5.7. I think the newer one is smaller though. I’m guessing who ever sold you the first one screwed up.
UPDATE!!! So I decided to do my first oil change by myself to see if the actual filter fit. Turns out it did fit and they guy who did my oil change before was just an idiot. I give him the fact that the filter on the car when bought was the wrong one so he assumed it didn’t fit, but man the correct filter went on so easy. Im almost certain he didn’t try to put the filter on before assuming it wasn’t the correct one. Thanks to everyone who replied.
