Seems like you got lots of good advice above. And I would have to agree. Don't jump at a deal that is going to leave you broke for 6 years. Save up enough downstroke money to put you in a better bargaining position. You can get more for your money than the deal in front of you provides.

By the way thank you Bad Grandpa for atleast reiterating to me to look over the fine print. In addition to asking price they were inflating the price by adding fees like - $185.50 for electronic filing, $20.50 for lead acid battery fee, $699.50 Clerical Charge and $89.00 for Private tag agency... all in all I left the dealership. Thanks for all the info from everyone. I really appreciate it!

Do not be discouraged though. Work on getting best combination of cash/financing/model range and year you can be comfortable with while watching for deals. May take some time, but it will come together. And then you can spend that extra cash on some shiny things for it!

We financed my new 2014 Challenger in 2014 for 2.9% for 48 months. That interest rate is insane. Your credit score while not perfect is not bad. I don't think the 18k is a bad deal. The car is 4 years old and at an allowable 12K per year for KBB standards it is in line there as well. But paying that stupid interest rate is the issue.

Take that $400.00 you were going to pay a month and stash it for 10 months, then you will have a nice down payment.

I have actually seen this car and test drove it Monday. The only reason I passed was the color. It already had the cai and borla exhaust...about $12-1300 maybe. Whats killing you is the interest rate. You need to get it down to about 6.9 or so. I just bought this https://www.greenwaychryslerjeepdodge.com/used-Orlando-2014-Dodge-Challenger-RT-2C3CDYBT1EH231553. 684 credit score, 4.99 interest rate, payment at 364 including warranty and Mopar maintanance. There are litterly 1000's of these cars out there to look at. Wait until the deal is right for you...not the dealer.

^^^ No kidding... e.bay alone has three pages of used Challengers. There are some steals out there. OP try to go through a private party legit one owner well cared for car. You will avoid all those extra fees. Secure a loan through a credit union.

Kevin, (NEPA SCAT) is selling his Scat Pack, here on the forum. While that one might be out of your price range, it is a stellar car. So lots of options to consider.

With a 680 credit score, I would not go much beyond 5-6% interest rate. Most loans with good credit should be less than 3%.

Best of luck with your search. You will find the right car with the right payment. Once you show a stabile payment history, your credit will build and better rates will be offered in time.

Ditto everyone here. I got my 2014 used last September with 14k miles on it at 7% interest for 375 a month, including a 3 year warranty from date of purchase. I drove 30 miles up the road to get it. There was another in my town that was selling the same year RT, an automatic (mine is manual blacktop) non-blacktop edition with double the miles for a grand more and no warranty. It really is a matter of finding a legit dealer. Don't be afraid to pit dealers against each other. Make them fight for your business.

Maybe try joining a credit union, typically they are easier to work with

Those are very good running cars. Hopefully it was owned by senior citizen, always garaged and never driven in the snow. Bottom line really check it out. I recommend taking a look at cars.com. I am going to be trading in a 2014 Charger R/T with 18,000 miles and a California car.
