This is a big deal for the Dodge brand. The Challenger is the only vehicle in its class with this rating.

Here is the announcement from Chrysler.

The all-new 2015 Dodge Challenger has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Five stars is the highest possible safety rating given by NHTSA.

In its assessment of the new Challenger, NHTSA notes the availability of Forward Collision Warning (FCW), which features forward-facing sensors programmed to detect the potential for certain types of frontal collisions. If detected, the driver is alerted with visual and audible warnings.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger is the only car in its segment with such capability.
FCW is among more than 70 available safety and security features on the 2015 Dodge Challenger. Others include Blind-Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Path Detection, which was pioneered by FCA US LLC.

Among the individual crash-tests in which the Challenger scored five stars were front- and side-impacts.

“The 2015 Challenger checks all the boxes,” says Scott Kunselman, Senior Vice President-Vehicle Safety and Regulatory, FCA-North America. “It affords premium safety and security in a stylish package that delivers a sporty driving experience.”

And it does so for $26,995, excluding tax, destination and title.

Last month, the Challenger recorded its best-ever November sales total with 4,157 deliveries. That’s a 52-percent jump compared with the same month in 2013.

Now my wife feels better about me cruising the streets. Shhhh......Mine is a 2013 but she doesn't need to know that.
That is a huge accomplishment for the Dodge Brand and Challenger owners.
just FYI the 2014 Challenger was also 5 star overall and did better than the redesigned 2015 in frontal test.

2014:
5 star frontal crash
5 star side impact
4 star rollover

2015:

That's true, but it also has a safety concern recorded on it.

The 2015's haven't had anything (yet).

That's not taking away the achievements of the previous years though.

Its surprisingly a big selling point on these cars, as a lot of people purchase them as family cars.
It's funny math though, how they get an average of 5 stars for 2015 is odd being it's score was 4.....5.....4, seems like that would average a 4 overall not 5 but whatever.
I thought the same thing too. I'm not sure how the score system works, but I would have thought it was a 4 overall.

Its great exposure for the Challenger though, just what we needed.

The 2015 SXT also recieved a great write up, ïts release was overshaddowed a bit by a certain Hellcat, but the reviews on it are great!
