May I ask a simple question that I have not seen addressed so far?

I just traded from a '13 R/T to a '15 R/T five weeks ago. Before that I traded from a '12 R/T to the '13 R/T.

To me the exhaust on the '12 and the '13 sounded about the same - too quiet for this car and I was going to change it on both.

The '15 R/T sounds clearly different and better (louder) in all respects. Has anyone else noticed this? My ears are not deceiving me. It is almost where I like it though could be a bit louder and deeper. At least it is not real high on my list of things to do right now.

Just wondering.

Thanks.

I Believe So. . .

I'm far from an expert on this issue BUT, I was told by my Dodge dealer that the 2014 exhaust is not the same as the 2015. So far I have no reason to doubt this since the parts suppliers are only listing a few aftermarket cat and axle back systems for the 2015. Your milage may vary.

My 2cents worth. I have a 10 SRT8 with Blastin Bob's on it and recently rented a 15 R/T Scat Pack and the exhaust on that sounded as good as my SRT8, so for what it is worth, I believe they have removed those dang resonator boxes but I did not look to be able to say for sure, I was having too much fun driving the Scat to care!!

I'm waiting on an answer for this too...I want a solo Mach X for my 2015 challenger. I'm assuming that the 15 exhaust is different because the rear axles are completely different so I think the exhaust hangers are in different places.

I know Flowmaster just came out with a cat back system for the 2015 challenger but I'm not a huge fan of how it sounds. The Scat Pack exhaust sounds really good due to the active exhaust feature...I assume that from the cat pipes back the fitment is all exactly the same as an R/T so I bet a scat pack exhaust would fit right in an R/T...don't quote me on that though.

When I bought my 2015 I read down the long boring list of things on the car and there was something called "active exhaust tips". I asked about it and I was told that was what gives the 2015 it's sound. I've gotten quite a few compliments on the sound and it's hard to take credit for a stock exhaust. Lol. My close friend tells me every time he hears my car and he's a Mustang guy.

More importantly

Can someone please tell me if the parts for the 14 fit the 15? I have friends with 2012's and under the hood looks identical. From my understanding, the transmission was upgraded, but I've heard nothing about engine components and exhaust. I've googled it, but I can't get anything solid. Confirmation would be great so I can go on an aftermarket part spree!

The vendor from whom you are buying your components will probably be your best resource for this information. Or call the parts counter at your local dealership. If the parts have different SKU numbers, they're likely not interchangeable.

If this is true I will be all over that system, price is not an option. That hellcat is one of the best sounding cars I've ever heard. So if there is a system that can make a 5.7l sound like a supercharged 6.2l I'll buy it. But I'm skeptical.

I would love to hear that system. I'll start googling that, unless he said where you could get it from?

15's are different, the rear hangers all changed position as did where the tailpipe ends on all engines, shorter. Scat Pack and SRT's now use the same rear hanger as the Fiat 300/Charger SRT8 has, the ball fitting for the tips are now larger on the big motor too, R/T ball size remains the same. SXT's use bumper exhaust trim like the Fiat 300/Chargers and no actual tips.
