Hi, I have a 2015 Challenger R/T with a 5.7 automatic and I would like to make is sound better than the stock mufflers.I see a lot of people here talking about muffler delete. Are they talking about removing the mufflers and adding straight pipes in place of the mufflers and keeping the resonators? Also would this have any effect on my emissions testing? Where I live we have to have that for our inspection sticker. I just want that old school sound. Thanks for your help and thanks for all the information on this web site. Bruce Reno

Thanks for all the input which was exactly NOTHING !!!! Bruce Reno
Nothing? This subject has been beat to death on this forum. No answer could be because of the holiday too.

Many threads also include pictures and sound clips. Just do a search on mufflers and resonators. Be patient. Answers come eventually. And if they don't when you start a thread, it's because many members are typing the same thing for the twentyith time or so. Search around.... you'll find what you are looking for. Also check out You Tube for Challenger exhaust mods.

X2 on what John said....go to search type in muffler delete...there is tons on it, video sound clips etc. some people are happy to stay with it, some did the muffler delete till they could decide on a after market exhaust ...i.e solo, Corsa, etc. again do a search on that as well LOTS of info.

Yes, muffler delete would be exactly as you guessed...straight pipes in place of the mufflers. A few have done that and like it. Others have done reso deletes and some like that. Others say it makes for too much drone. As for me I found a happy medium. I got Blastin Bobs glass pack resonators in place of the oem ones. And it's a deeper sound, a little louder with little to no drone.
But as the other guys have stated, this subject has been covered quite a bit with plenty of videos as well. Good luck.

Based on the fact you have an auto I would say go with a muffler delete. Removing the resonators can lead to some drone issues in the car when the MDS kicks in. Even if you disable MDS with a tuner the lack of resonators can still cause some drone. Removing the mufflers and replacing them with straight pipe won't cause any drone and will increase the sound level a bit. A number of people on this site have done that modification and have been very happy with the results. Remember though this will not give you the same type of sound that you will get from a try cat-back system. If you are looking for a wake the neighborhood type of sound simply removing the mufflers will not do that.

Take it easy, its the holidays. This is one of the most informative forums I have ever seen. Not to mention there are a lot of people on here that are not only friendly but willing to take time to share their own experiences/knowledge. No need for tantrums....

Don't know what your budget is but if you go with the Scat Pack II option package from your dealer you pick up some nice HP plus keep any warranty issues off the table. Please read all posts and take the advice to heart... this is a great place to hang out....

Hi Bruce, try Flowmaster Super 44 they sound pretty good. Just be careful for drone. Flowmaster Super 50 are pretty nice sounding too. I will post my current situation and believe me exhaust must be chosen carefully to prevent money lost and lots of it!!! Solo Performance makes a low drone system and if you google no drone you will read a lot of interesting stuff.

r/t mufflers

hey Bruce, I have a 2008 Chrysler 300 with the 5.7 and my brother owns midas shops and he removed mufflers and put straight pipe in place and car sounds good and even better when you jump on it. only thing I hate is when it goes into 4 cylinder mode it sounds like one, so I keep it out of over drive or shift manually so I have that nice hemi sound.

When choosing an Exhaust you have to decide how sound you actually want, if you want a real loud cop caller sound then i would go with the Borla Atak or American Thunder Flowmasters etc, if you want a more conservative sound but still want to hear it when you step on it then Corsa Extreme or equivalent would be the way to go. There are a number of good systems out there.

I never heard of the muffler delete just the reso delete
Its an option that some of the auto transmission folks go with since it does not cause drone issues like a resonator delete would. Basically the opposite of what six speed folks would do. It adds some sound but not quite as much as deleting the resonators, at least to my ear..

Hey, Sorry for the rant. Thanks for all the useful information. Haven't made up my mine what I will do yet. I want a loud sound but do not want to fail my emissions test. I will check with my dealer about the scat pack option II. Thanks and again sorry for being a butt. Bruce Reno

resonator delete

I did the resonator delete on my 2015 rt and it is a lot louder and sounds mean. Cruising speeds are of a normal level, but getting to the speeds are ridiculous. Overall I really like it and will be leaving the stock mufflers also shaved off 30 pounds.
