I have had my 2015 SXT for a week now, put 1100 mile on her in a variety of environments, and thought I would share my impressions.

I needed good economy as I drive the 385 miles from Orange County, CA to Northern California several times a month. I also sit in Los Angeles traffic a LOT. For this reason, a manual tranny and the V8 are out for me.

I like the old school muscle car styling of the Mustng, Camaro and Challenger, and looked at them all. The Mustang is cool, but more of a chick car (according to my buddies), and the Camoro is a little over styled for my taste. Once I drove the challenger with the 305 hp V6 mated to the 8 speed tranny, I was hooked.

She gets an honest 30+ mpg on the freeway if I keep the speeds under 70 mph, which is amazing for a car this big. She is also scary fast in Sport mode. I recorded several 0 to 60 runs from 6.4 to 6.2 seconds with about a quarter tank of fuel. Better than the advertised 6.6 seconds.

Handling in the mountain roads of the Northern Califonia Gold country was surprisingly stable and predictable. I had read this is a straight line car, but the sport suspensions is very solid. Oh, and in sport mode, passing slower cars is awesome!

She is stable and comfortable at the high speed of 110 mph, and there was a bunch of throttle left. She felt like she was crushing at 65 mph...

So my impression? Awesome! I am more than happy. I have a very cool looking car that has all the performance I could dream of, with the economy I require. This is as close to a perfect car as I can imagine. I love the new interior, and as a bigger guy, I love the room of the full size car. I just drove 7 hours and was very comfortable.

I would liked to have had the upgraded electronics with Navigation, rear camera and Sirus XM, but a small trade off for the money I paid. The only mods I am going after right away is the addition of a rear spoiler, and I want to paint or get covers for the calipers. I may upgrade the front "chin" spoiler, but other than that, there is really nothing I need to upgrade.

So, If anyone is wondering about the SXT, I highly recommend! I love is car!!! I simply can not imaging the Hellcat! That car must be scary!!!

Sounds like you got the perfect car for you! I'm with you on the 3.6L and 8 speed auto. My wife's 300 has that same setup and that car is quick. Plenty of power for passing, merging, etc. Getting 30mpg out of a Challenger is awesome too considering they weigh around 4,000 lbs!

These cars are definitely comfortable too. I've taken mine on several family vacations down to Tennessee from Michigan and it was a total pleasure to drive. Most people complain about driving that far but I loved it!

Glad you're happy with your car!

Not comfortable for a long drive? I traded up from a Chrysler 200...that was a fine car, but I can move around and stretch my legs in the Challenger. Yeah this car fits me perfect!

Nope, saying it is comfortable for a long drive. I love going on long trips in the Challenger, it's so easy to drive and you can fit everything you need in the trunk easily.

We had a 2011 Chrysler 200 and it was a nice car, but much smaller for sure. My legs would rest against the door panel and center console, never liked that. Much more room in the Challenger.

Good choice and nice color choice. The granite crystal looks both classy and sporty at the same time. My 500A and Challenger are both the same color.

When i was shopping for mine, I drove both the 5.7 and the 3.6, and although the 5.7 was definitely faster, I was not buying for speed or grudge matches at traffic lights. I got it for looks and cruising. even though I still get people trying to get me to race at lights... I just wave, the 3.6 is plenty capable engine for what I do in it. Glad you like you new ride, enjoy!

I bought an SXT Plus a couple of weeks ago.
It wasn't even on my radar. I just sold my 14 Corvette Stingray, an awesome Car BTW, but I needed a more "sensible" Car for a variety of reasons.
My requirements for a replacement were simple, Two Doors and Rear Wheel Drive.
It was down to a Challenger or a Mustang, with the latter the frontrunner.
I started comparing features for the Money, and the Challenger pulled away.
Got a great deal on the Car and so far I am very happy with my choice.
I enjoy the roominess of the Interior, the get up and go for a V-6 and of course the Eight Speed Transmission. Great Powertrain overall, especially in a "base" Car configuration.
Buying 87 Octane instead of the 91 Octane is a real change, and a heck of a lot cheaper.
BTW - This is my first Post on this Forum. Looking forward to participating further.
Oh yeah, I think everyone can guess the Color of my Car. LOL

No doubt the SXT is one hell of a Mopar! Glad you are enjoying yours (you too BIG RED!). These cars are in a class all their own.....can't even compare them to Camaro's and Mustang's. They are big beasts with iconic looks and are a blast to drive!! ENJOY!!!!

Welcome to the Z and glad you found what most of us already know....bang for the buck is hard to beat with a Challenger. I do have one question....is Inferno Red back???...I thought Redline Red was the only red so far in 2015.:4-dontknow:

I just got back from my annual Christmas trip to see my son. I drive from Vegas to north west Arkansas. This was the first long run in my 15 SXT. 20 hours seat time each way. I found it very comfortable. I'm really impressed with the drive train. The results speak for themselves.

The SXT's engine is way under rated, its one second slower in the quarter mile then the RT and 2 seconds slower than the SRT. the car has more power than most realize. Plenty for me. just throw on a couple of Hemi badges no one will know>LOL I know I'm going to jail now LOL

I just realized that I had "Inferno Red" listed as the color in my Profile. Sorry about that friendoffur.
Corrected it to TorRed to avoid further confusion. LOL

My 15 SXT Plus is TorRed with Black / Ivory(?) Interior. There was another Metallic Red Color available with a $495 Premium but it didn't do it for me.

Next Mod will be Caliper Covers, Red or Black. Still mulling it over. I would like the Red, but I think it's a different shade than the Car Color. :wow:

Glad your happy with the new ride. I went from a 2011 RT to a 2014 SXT.
Things I find interesting is that the handling is better then my RT, probably a combination of lighter weight and the 20" wheels.
The motor is a much quicker revving then the Hemi. The best 0 to 60 I could get from my RT was 5.7 sec. My SXT is consistently 6.2 sec. Not a huge difference.
Not taking away from the Hemi but I am actually more impressed with this motor then the Hemi. It seems more refined and more efficient. Happy dodge finally stepped up the siix. Oh and I forget to mention, no MDS!!

Glad you love your new Challenger!

I have ONE complaint about the 2015's and other "new" Chrysler products.

No more CD players! (the new 200's don't have them either)

I still have a ton of CD's and I don't want to take the time to transfer my CD's to other electronic sources to plug into the radio to listen!
Many Challenger owners are over 40 and many of us still listen to CD's. (I think??)

You CAN order them as an "add on" but it fits inside your center console and takes up space, oh well.

One more thing I'd like to see.........a manual tranny option for the 6, like the Camaro and Mustang have.
