6 speed low rpm stumbles

I test drove a 22 scat pack with 4,500 miles on it and the manual 6 speed. It did not like cruising at lower rpm's (1500-2000). On the interstate at about 65 mph, it would stumble in 6th gear and I had to use 5th to get it to smooth out. Even around town I had to use lower gears than should be required to keep it going. My 2012 Challenger would cruise smoothly in that rpm range and I have had several other 6 speed cars that had no problems. Is this normal in the newer cars?

Also, the dealer had let the battery die and the car had to be jump started. After that, the check engine light was on. Could this be the cause of the issue? Do these cars have a "limp mode" they go into when there is a problem?

That is not normal. The 392 is a low end torque monster. I can lug mine way down in any gear and it will pull out of it no problem. But, the battery going dead may be the issue. The only way to tell is to recharge it and drive it for a few days to see if the computer "resets" itself. A scan for codes wouldn't hurt either.

Low battery power, particularly when it dies, has a traumatic effect on all of the onboard computer systems. They have to like each other in order to be efficient. Once power is restored, they try to be as they were before loss of power but many revert to initial settings that may not be compatible with others. I think the car is fine and will "fix" itself over time. Dealers have tools to rectify what is a fairly common problem but really isn't necessary if you can deal with the interim. I've heard that "driving like you stole it" will hurry the issue resolution but I've no experience with that particular recommendation so I'll only say that others have suggested it as a fix.

At 4,500 the car has plenty warranty, but I understand not wanting to buy a vehicle with a potential issue.
Few years ago I test drove a brand new 2020 F-150 that had a check engine light on. Sales woman didn't even see, she was like I can have the service department turn that off. Needless to say, I left it right there on the lot where it belongs after the test drive.
