We bought this car back in 99, it was a 70 gran coupe 383 auto, it was full of rust, I replaced the entire back half of the car as well as the front cowl,and fender aprons,the only thing left from ma Mopar is the doors,and roof and most of the floor, so I deemed it was not crucial to go back to stock since most of the car is far from original ,

it was sand blasted, I did most of the work on a rotisserie ,and yes it has taken a long time I have 5 cars, so it is difficult to care for them all and restore a car and yes this will be my last one :smileup:

YEA black is kind of hard, and it is my second stab at it ,so I learned alot the first time, one of the keys is using a long board, and most, if not all the body work is done by hand, dry sanding ,

using wax and grease remover sprayed on wet as a guide ,

thanks for the comments :smileup::smileup:

You can tell by the reflections its very straight. Tough work on a car like that. Very nice.

I have a buddy that did his own paint and body work and he always joked on a car that was wavy "looks like they block sanded it with a spoon". Yours looks the opposite, obviously block sanded correctly and you spent a lot of time doing it.

for some reason my post/response didn't show .oh well.

Alot of people get a nice straight body/ work done ,and the paint peels,or wave,or flutters, and I have always done wet sanding after paint, to get rid of the excess paint,or clear .

to assure the work I have done will not be flawed by paint, and also buffing that will reveal the low areas of paint , those areas needed repaint,
that only happened on two areas, and since the process is under way as far as paint this is when it needs to be done, so now we know how paint is on the surface, for future polishing :smileup:

That is a rare car with the 4 speed, they made just under 8k G/C,S and I intend on using the trim,and overhead console, and also incorporate a AAR hood as well as the rear spoiler so it will be a AAR/GC barracuda, but since the Gran Coupe was just a trim option, they really dont get the big bucks like the "real" Cudas,

they are a little bit fancier and most if not all came with just lo po 383,s so you r buddie,s it it has the hi po 383 4 bbl it is in deed a rare car

That's what I had, the Hi-po 383 four speed car that was originally Plum Crazy purple but had been painted black by the time I purchased it. I ran it hard and hate to say but sold it real cheap to my brother and a couple years later it went down the road to someone else real cheap. No one realized the rareness of that car then, just another 383 muscle car but certainly one that would of been worth saving had we been able to see the future.

Looking forward to seeing more pics when you post them. :smileup:

I owned a 70 Challenger convertible, that is now owned by another member of this forum. It was not a RT but had the 383 4 bbl. Heavily optioned, air, power windows, light package, A.M.-F.M. etc.
It had the flat hood with dual exhaust with turn downs, no tips. It also came with a 3.23 sure grip. I restored this car in the late 1980's and kept it for about 15 years. It sound similar to your car.
