In a weird series of events, Hellen, my 2014 RT added 2 more kills to the list this past weekend. The first was a definite unexpected one. I'm chilling at a red light, conversating with my girlfriend, a Yukon Denali is beside me and a BMW X6 M series suv is behind him. I remember looking up the x6 truck because my ole lady really liked it. The price tag being 93k tho o_O. Anyway, I'm paying this Denali no attentions....well light turns green and the Denali smashes out. By the time I reacted, he was already thru the intersection. Much to the angst of my girlfriend, I stomp the gas, and start playing catch up. The traction control pulled timing right at 5500 Rpms and I bounced off the rev limiter 4 times before she would finally shift into 2nd gear, but once she did, it was game over and she quickly started to reel the Denali in. By the start of 3rd I had closed the gap and was passing the Denali. Look up and the bmw truck had kept up the entire time. We all merge onto the interstate when the Denali decided he wants a rematch. Pulls up beside me and we're off to the races again. This time it's defintiely no match as he quickly becomes a spec in my rear view. The bmw truck then finds his way besides me. I remember at the red light that this was a 555 hp vehicle(at least the 2014 models are). I engage sports mode as he gives me the 3 honks and we're off to the races. I must say, that's one stouttttttttt SUV. His nose stayed on my rear bumper the entire time before giving up. I must say it's nice to beat a vehicle that's 60k+ more expensive than my own. But that x6 M would make one helluva grocery getter one day while my beloved hellen is parked in the garage, only seeing sunlight on the best of days. Yup...one day. Definitely 2 unexpected kills. Guess those guys just wanted to see how fast these beautiful beasts really are!!

Has anyone else had a problem with traction control preventing your A5 to switch gears? Caught me by total surprise and I wonder can I force the car to shift into second with the paddles even with the Traction control

Nice. Well done. And yes you can shift into 2nd. You will be a little quicker outta the hole using the shifter. This is my experience. Some will argue you are quicker in auto with traction control off. I personally prefer to shift at my comfort points.

That's kind of funny that a Yukon Denali wanted to race you. Guy must have just wanted to see what your car could do, hope he didn't think he stood a chance.

It's funny what cars end up trying to race you. I've gotten everything from sports cars to old trucks, SUV's, women in Mustangs, kids in station wagons, etc. Haha!

Just be careful out there. I am not saying that I approve or disapprove.

The BMW X6M weighs north of 5000lbs, which is not that much more than a Challenger, but its aerodynamics aren't great.

Good job.

Went up against a Cadillac Escalade which is essentially the same as a Denali, managed three reasonable shifts with limited tire spin and I drove onto the highway entry ramp and he got to drive by it and make a u turn. A lot closer than I would have thought though. I didn't realize we were racing till we were though (which probably saved me from spinning through first but did give him a bit of a head start)

My wife's SRT Jeep is a Vette killer from a stop light... the AWD puts a ton of power to the pavement and with launch control it all gets used... while not 550HP it has surprised a couple of 90's model Vette's....
