The AFE Momentum 6.4L air tube finally arrived, it looks like it will work, I do hope so, I'll be installing it today, Lord Willing, I'll take some pictures of the new setup after the installation. Supposed to be a Cars and Coffee show this Saturday in Florence, SC 9:00 to 11:00 AM, I'm hoping to enter BB with the AFE Airbox properly setup? Ry

I have learned a lot about superchargers and how they work since the installation and it still surprises me every day driving to discover something new. Ry
Glad your enjoying your Beast 👍

This Hellcat is my 14th Supercharged Muscle Car, over the years I've sold a Supercharged Car and replaced it with a BIG HP Naturally Aspirated. No matter how much HP the NA was I go back to Supercharged EVERYTIME.

Short Answer: ONCE YOU'VE BEEN BLOWN, THERE'S NO GOING BACK !!! 😎

Well it is not going to be as easy as I hoped, I have to pull the entire airbox assembly to remove the existing filter setup. So BB won't get the air tube installed today, the fact it is raining today has something to do with it as well. It is not going to be a 2 hour job to complete more like the better part of the day not enough time to get it done by tomorrow. The car show may be canceled tomorrow anyway because of rain, but no complaints we need the rain. Whenever I do get it installed I'll post pics of it. Ry

Mine is my first supercharged. Prior to my Hellcat, my first forced induction car (twin turbo) was my 2013 BMW X1, which preceded my Hellcat by one year. I sold the X1 last summer and upgraded to a 2012 X5, my 3rd forced induction car (also twin turbo). Even though the X5 takes 6 seconds to run 0-60, it's still pretty fast for a big SUV.

You're absolutely correct. You get addicted to supercharged/forced induction engines, making it difficult to go back to N/A.

Ry, I recently reinstalled my aFe box after passing emissions testing and it was as big a pain in the 2nd go-round as the first time I installed that sadistic, Rubik's cube of CAI's. Lining up the airtube with the throttle intake, sliding on the rubber sleeve connecting the tube with the airbox and throttle intake, positioning the headlight snorkel, and fitting the airbox into that tight space all at once caused me to fill a couple of swear jars in the span of three hours. Be patient, breathe deep, and just accept that the Mopar gods are bored and using you for sport. Good luck!

The car show was great this AM, met a lot of good people with every type of car you can think of, many conversations, loving to share what they've done to their cars, or just sharing their love for cars, and what it means to them. Hot Rods, Street Rods, for show and racing, but mostly for show, one man with a really nice pick up had a picture on his radiator. It was a picture of him under the truck working with his legs hanging out, his two grand boys were asking, "Hi Papa! Are you working, Napping, or Hiding from Grandma?"
I thought that was Priceless! :)

Well my OCD can take a break now, the 6.4 AFE air tube is installed and IMO looks really good. It was an ultimate, truly ultimate, pain in the a$$ to get installed, John aka HemiMetal, was exactly right, took me about 3 hours to do.
It definitely is supplying more air flow than any of the previous setups I've used on the Magnuson, as more air flow equals more acceleration power. :) Ry

Drove about 75 miles today the highest IAT was 22 degrees above ambient air, accelerated moderately a few times to see where it would end up, but cruising was about 15 ~ 18 degrees. This AFE 6.4 setup is the perfect angle for the Magnuson snout, the air flow is the best yet, performance is great. So for the record this is my final air intake setup after going through 3 previous setups, this is IMO, the best of them all. High air flow, good Intake Air Temperatures, and good supercharger whine. It may not be a Hellcat, but when you stomp it to the floor it unleashes hell, and whines like a hungry cat. :ROFLMAO:

In this picture above taken today, you can definitely see why the Matte black stripes are called Ghost stripes.

We have some green beginning to show but it will be stunted as it is supposed to freeze here Sunday, wrong, EDIT: Monday. Be safe out there all of you! Ry

This is what I did today, installed a catch can on the fresh air side, same catch can that is on the PCV valve side. I'll start by answering questions you have not asked, #1 why?

Because with the AFE 6.4L air tube, the PCV air tube comes in at the throttle body, it will pull more vacuum from there and I don't want oil showing up on the throttle body air plate. Which if it gets that far it will also get to the supercharger bypass air plate control as well.

The catch can itself is two way air flow, but only captures oil on the IN side of it, but allows air flow back in the opposite direction when the engine needs to pull in fresh air.

#2 How am I going to dump it?

I can either siphon oil out through the dip stick hole, or simply remove it, dump it and then replace it. It should be a really slow fill on this side anyway, but where the tube is located at the throttle body may affect that with higher vacuum.

I'll pretty it up later but it looks good and 100% functional in its location.

I used heavy nylon duct ties to secure the catch can to the Magnuson reservoir, and I used pre-formed hose to make the connections. Works Great! Ry

I just vent my filler tube to atmosphere, I am still worrying about mounting my ctch can like you have as I am worried about hood contact when I close it and about emptying it as there is a coolant line for the whipple in the way. I swear I would give the supercharger setup to someone willing to come over and swap it out for their stock stuff.

Do you have a picture of your Whipple under hood setup?
Venting the filler tube to atmosphere means you have zero vacuum on the fresh air line to keep negative pressure on the crankcase when the PCV valve closes, did Whipple suggest you do that in the installation instructions?

This is for those that told me I could forget running 0 ~ 60s once supercharged.

Not too bad, seeing as how there is a bug out bag for two, tools, and the spare tire in the trunk!

Done on a country back road, not the best surface, but nothing on either side of the road, and that was not even in Sport Mode.

Where do you live? I'll come swap my stock set up. My 5.7 intake is ported and I still have the stock airbox if you want that to. I realize you may be joking but in the case you're not and the drive isnt too far, I'd be down.

PCV valve should only close incase of a backfire. Since the inlet hose is in front of the the blower impellers, Middle connection on the right, would it not always be under vacuum? It is not be on the boost side of the blower.
