I want to swap my cam to give it a more aggressive sound plus power. The 392 seems cheap but no sound difference the comp cam 274 seems ok. Just wondering what ppl are running plus ideas. Cost and sound bites would be great

The comp cam 274 cam is more aggressive than the 392 SRT cam and you will likely need to get it tuned. On a $ per HP delivered basis, doing just a cam swap without doing anything else isn't very cost effective when you consider the labor costs (unless you are doing it yourself) plus tuning.

Most of the folks who I either know or have read about on the forum have coupled a cam swap with other mods (such as heads and/or head work, valvetrain upgrades, headers, etc.).

Best advice I can give is think through in advance what your "end state" is going to be and plan your mods accordingly. For example, don't pay to have headers installed now and then do head work later on, otherwise you will end up paying for some things twice. Since you have to take off the exhaust to do the head work if you plan ahead you wont have to pay for the header labor since its already built into the head removal.

Also, if you incrementally mod things that affect the engine tune, you will pay multiple times to get it re-tuned. Its easier on your wallet to do all those related things at once. Make sense?
