I am looking at getting cold air intake for my 2011 RT Classic. I have always used K&N filters in my trucks, so I was looking at the K&N and the Mopar cold air intakes. I know I won’t get much performance gain as far as horsepower or torque by just adding this, but I do like the looks better than the stock air box and filter, and I figure anything they add shouldn’t hurt. The Mopar seems to have a aluminum tube whereas the K&N that I have been seeing appears to have plastic tube, though I believe they have a aluminum tube version as well. Is one material better than the other for the intake tube? Does one do better with displacing heat for providing cold air? I was leaning toward the Mopar for the looks, but I have always used K&N products with no problems and they are also cheaper than the Mopar depending on the model. I’m looking for a bit of input on either and suggestions between the two from those that have either of these cold air intakes.

Also is a dry or oiled filled better with the CAI. It appears the Mopar filter is dry and the K&N is an oiled filter
Thanks

in the cold air shoot out in MOPAR Muscle magazine the MOPAR brand CIA was the best instillation but also the most costly but not by much... MOPAR added 7 HP not too shabby IMO.

Check out LMI (Legmaker) intakes. The Airhammer, Frankentake IV, and True CAI are all awesome intakes and have proven gains. There's a lot of testing and results over on the LX forums on those intakes. They're made from carbon fiber and look pretty sweet too.

If I were getting a CAI I'd go with an LMI. The Mopar ones are pretty nice too, but they're kind of pricey. I think the AFE Stage II and Aria CAI's also had solid hp gains.

If you get a short ram intake it'll be more prone to suck in warm underhood air. You can remove the driver's side lower radiator baffle to allow more cool air up under the air intake area. There's a thread somewhere on here about the lower radiator baffle mod, it's free and easy to do.

The best way to go is the fender pull intakes like the LMI True CAI, AEM Brute Force, etc. since they pull air that's cooler and away from the engine heat. The downside is it's more involved to install, harder to service the filter, etc.

I wouldn't expect much more than 5-7hp gain, 10hp would be the most from a fenderpull intake maybe. There are some intakes that really don't do anything performance wise. They do look cool though and definitely sound cooler when you get on it.

Not trying to steal the thread but I was bored so I started looking at Cai's and saw a listing on eBay that showed an install of the ram air box off a hellcat being installed onto a 2015 rt. it showed them removing the inner turn signal plate and connecting the intake tube there. Has anyone tried this? For the price they wanted on eBay I think it would be a pretty effective intake to install.
