so the other day I went to the touch less wash for 5 bucks, you drive in the bay, doors shut, and you get a coat of soap and high pressure wash, no brushes. The day I went it was below freezing. so I pull in, it applies soap on my entire car, then the door opens and the sign says thank you.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? so I pulled out with my entire car coated with soap, I then drove home to get some cash and then to the nearest hand car wash and left a nasty message for the owner of this place. take a look at this...needless to say I lost my cool

Yep, frozen soap isn't cool. We had a great touchless wash when it was new. He replaced both blowers and now it doesn't dry like it did since he put smaller ones in. I remember one time I paid 6 bucks for the works and when it came time for the colored foam, I didn't get any because the tubes were frozen and wouldn't spray. They are great when properly maintained though.

Sorry to see that, I have yet to bring my car to any type of car wash, to me its just looking for trouble, for me that's one thing i insist on doing myself.

That sucks man! I was hoping you weren't going to say the big machine thing fell down on your car and scraped it all up or something. That would still piss me off though leaving all that nasty frozen soap on there.

I used to use toucheless auto washes occasionally since I refuse to use the regular ones with crap that brushes all over your car. But I gave up on those after a while. I started to wonder what kind of harsh chemicals were they using to remove all that grime off without ever touching the car? They're good in a pinch, but generally I just use the coin car wash and spray it off. Gets all the grime off and eventually at some point it'll warm up enough where you can bring a bucket and sponge with you in the trunk and hand wash it in the stall and then dry it outside of the stall.

I'd avoid that place from now on. Find a better place nearby or stick with a coin car wash until spring gets here.

I used the touch less once with my previous car when it was new, and I don't know if it was the high pressure wash or the dryer motion, but I came out with giant swirl marks on my hood! Not very fun to see on a new car!! The Challenger will always get hand washed!!
I go to the coin place when I want to wash out the wheel wells and the wheels, but that is it for me, and I use the low pressure rinse only.

I always do mine by hand. If my hoses are put away for the winter, I just plug in my $5 in quarters at the local wash bay and take my time in the wheel wells getting any kind of salt off of the car.

That sucks. The owner should refund your money at the very least. I would be embarrassed driving it home with a coat of frozen soap.

You have a nice car, I love the color but please don't be offended when I say you should stay away from the carwash. The soaps used are often very harsh and will take off any wax or polish you've put on. Try and stick to hand washing. I actually installed an outdoor hot/cold water hydrant on my house so I can wash the car in during cool weather. Yeah, if you have a daily driver there it can be a pain sometimes to go out and wash it.

I wash mine outside during the winter, only has to be above freezing. I use warm wash water, and I fill my rinse bucket part way with hot water, then finish filling it up outside. That gives me warm wash and rinse water in buckets.

I actually take care of a touchless wash for a friend of mine and yes things happen and usually when no one is there lol. I never used a wash before taking care of this place but now after seeing that it actually does a decent job as long as you keep your car pretty clean I have no problem running any of my cars through there. I see all kinds of cars that you wouldn't think would go through there, I mean it's a little funny to me that someone spends $50,000.00 and up for a car and they come to the $3.00 touchless wash and some of them are there every day or every couple days. I don't see anyway that a touchless could damage your car unless the building fell down and if the wash uses the proper soaps and waxes/cleaners they do a great job. When someone calls me with the problem you had about all I can do is offer another wash. The coin car washes are few and far between anymore there is just very little profit in it and the self serve wash bays are packed on the weekends and thats because many people like washing their own cars but in my area anyway they are closing up or not maintained right, it's a tough business to be in.

Absolute bummer. Frozen soap is no fun.

I do use a car wash. I actually have a monthly plan. Works great. They have not scratched my car at all. The brushless/touchless systems are not perfect, but they get the road salt out. Since it's a monthly plan, I can get my car washed once a day, every day.

I still hand-wash and detail on my own. I have a Meguiar's DA and the various professional products. I've been using them for 20+ years.

we don't have a touchless anywhere close, the diy ones are usually busy, I do take mine thru the brush wash every now and then, never had a problem and they hand dry it off, I don't get the wax , I do that myself . as far as hand washing , my water is hard so even using a sham me to dry it off , I have water spots left.
