My Goodness Gracious! Wonderful Pics! Wish I had a Pic of my Dad's Desoto!
If I knew the year and model I could likely find one similar to it Lou...My Goodness Gracious! Wonderful Pics! Wish I had a Pic of my Dad's Desoto!
That's surely a manual adjust on that...similar to the Daytona/Superbird rear wings. Not sure on the details on that one, but it likely was a threaded rod with a hidden nut you could loosen to pivot the wing part up or down and then set it in whatever position you wanted. Since it's a show car it may or may not have been fully operational other than a few basic positions. Just my guess. In the 2nd picture, was that an active spoiler on the rear?
If it was active how was it controlled?
Yah, it looks like one of those conversion kits from back in 2009-14 period you could buy to make your Challenger grille look like a 'Cuda. The one Girl looks a lot like Judith O' Dea from night of the Living Dead aka Barbara.
The Concept Challenger that Joe Higgins aka Sheriff J.W. is standing by havs a wild looking Grille almost like a Cuda' / Barracuda
Rest of the car is a bit over the top but none the less interesting.
That's what I was thinking, that it was manually adjusted, cool feature! That's surely a manual adjust on that...similar to the Daytona/Superbird rear wings. The Superbird wing I had back in the 70's had socket headed screws on each end that you could loosen, adjust the horizontal wing and then set and secure the screw back in place IIRC. Unfortunately it never ended up on the rear of my '70 Charger R/T since I sold the car, kept the spoiler and my Dad ran over it behind the chicken coop where I had stored it for several more years. Chopped cast aluminum pieces were all that was left after the encounter with the rear mounted farm tractor pulled mower...
I felt that this might be fun for everyone...I know it's fun for me refreshing the car knowledge that has slowly drifted out of my memory banks. What spurred this idea up is that I found a hard drive full of old photos that I've collected over the last 10 years last night and I've decided to share them with everyone here along with some history behind each one if possible. It is a way we can easily see some of our automotive "roots" and, everyone can contribute if they want to. "A Win-Win" so to speak!Wonderful photos and history!
As the time passes by I realized how beautiful the E-body Challenger and Barracuda cars are!
