Your not making sense the Style of Wheel doesnt determine that its the Rim Width as to what will work best most 18x or 20x wheels can accommodate a 305 on a Challenger
But you would best get your answer if you Tell us what Year and Model of Challenger and you can run the vin to get the wheel spec that came on the car ........

18 inch
20 Inch
Also has the car had lowering springs installed ?

The Speedometer would need to be reset by a Flash Update to the PCM

Your Computer has to be Reset by a Dealer, Tireshop or depending on year of car there is hand held units that can do it.
How ever we can not effectively help you with knowing the Year and Model of Challenger and info I asked you.

Oh of course. It is a

2018 Dodge Challenger 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker RWD

with 8700 miles on it.

The Wheels on it are:
Front Tire Size-P275/40YR20, P245/45YR20
Rear Tire Size-P275/40YR20, P245/45YR20

Yes your Wheels will support up to 315 / 20 actually might have to use a heat gun and rubber hammer to gently massage the liner for those depends. A 305 will go on what you have. Make sure you install Rock Guard / Mud Flaps on the back unless you want to trash the rear quarter panels though.

The computer only needs to be reset if the outside diameter of the tire has been changed. And even then if it is less than 10% the only thing affected would be mph. Example 245/45/20 has the same diameter as 275/40/20. 305/35/20 is 3/10 of an inch larger. No need for adjustment . Those wheels are 20x9 so you really don't want to go wider than a 275. I have not seen anyone making them in a wider size.

There is no aftermarket or factory option to the wheel OP posted that allows a 305 or 315..The wheel OP posted is a 20x9 . max tire size for a 9 in wide wheel is 275/40R20. 305/315 will not fit correctly..

This is bad advice.. you can force a 305 and maybe a 315 on a 9 inch wide wheel but the shoulder of the tire would not touch the pavement at the recommended 32 PSI. you could MAYBE make it work with 24-25 PSI but then the center of the tread will cup at speed....bad idea...

The diameter of your wheel doesnt determine what size tire you can run, the width of your wheel does. It doesn't matter if you have 18,19,20, or 24 inch wheels. If they're not wide enough, there are only certain tire widths you can safely run. Like dodgeguy stated, if your new tire size is the same diameter is the same as your old one, it wont affect the speedometer. You also posted two different tire sizes for your car. You either have 245/45 r20 or 275/40r20, not both, unless you have a staggered setup. Judging by your wheel pic, you are running 245s. You cannot safely run 305s on that wheel since it is too narrow

You MAY be able to find reproduction wheels in that style with the width you need to run wider tires.
