My challengers PCM fried, tried to get the dealer to replace it.

3 weeks of struggeling with them I finally call corporate, explain whats happening. The dealer calls me the next days says to bring it in the following day. They install the PCM and all is good.

When i pick up the car the front left rim is scratched and no one said a thing to me. Glad I did a walk around. Not sure what my options are, it took 3 weeks for my car to run properly. I dont really want them driving it anymore now...

Definitely talk to the dealership service manager. If you get no response, maybe it's time to call Corporate again. That worked for you the first time!

Doing a walkaround is always advisable and I'm glad you did so. For future service calls, add taking a few pics as well. The pictures from a cell phone are date and time stamped, so I always do it right after I arrive for service. Nothing like photo-documentation to quell arguments over whether the damage occurred before or after your car was serviced.

Definately talk to theService Manager about it! Reading your post, I don't know if you were silent when you noticed your scratch during your walk around. The best time to bring up your problem is when you are still there and not after the fact. It's easier to convince them at the time.

As a result of incidences like this, my dealer now does a walk around when the vehicle is dropped off. Smart move to cover it both ways.

PRETTY D$%# SAD, when you have to take photo's of your car when dealing with a
car (any brand) dealership that's working/repairing on/your car.

The many things a consumer has to do these days to make sure they are not getting screwed.

Again, it's PRETTY D&%$ SAD............

It is sad, dam sad. It shouldnt be that way,but it is, and its getting worse.People damage things out of intention more so nowadays. If it happens to be unintentional they dont say a word and act like they never did anything. All you need to do is look at a few utube videos from the valet doing 50 in a parking garage with a new vette running into the wall during parking it. The only reason the owner knew about it is due to valet mode on the new vette records video. Photos and video tape are the only way to catch this or prevent it. If they know you are taking photos of your car they think twice about how
its treated.

^ Yep, that's 100% right, squeaky wheel gets the grease. I've had to use that one a few times in my life for various things where people were trying to shut me up or just screw me over. If you keep on bitching, eventually someone somewhere will want to just shut you up and make you go away, so they'll do whatever you want. Might take a lot of complaining but it usually works out in your favor. Hopefully they'll just make it right without going through a lot of crap on your part.

Hard to believe someone would actually let a valet park their nice new Corvette. That's almost asking for trouble. I have a hard time letting the dealership guys move my car around, but I'd never trust a valet! I'd rather park far away and walk or just not eat at that particular place.

It's sad that's how things are nowadays but it is what it is. Better off to take pictures and document stuff than to get screwed over.

You would think the guy wih the Vette would have insisted they park it up front with the other exotic/expensive cars.

Last time I used valet with my Challenger I asked them to leave it in the front instead of taking it to the parking garage, don't want some kid driving my car.

Whoa wait, did I read that Chrysler replaced your PCM on a 2010 ? or did you have to shell out to replace it? If you got them to do it kudos...that must have been like pulling teeth to get them to do that alone, but yes finding damage from dealer work sucks , wonder how the heck they did it to your wheel?

Oh the stories I could tell about customer cars getting damaged at dealerships and no one ever saying anything about it.

Hopefully they fix it for you. I hate having anyone touch my car, I'm reluctant to get my windows tinted because it involves someone in my car, on my white leather seats, making a mess...I wish I knew how to tint.

Yes I managed to get them to replace the PCM with a brand new one as the PCM is under a 8yr/80k mile warranty on any car you buy.

They even installed my mopar o2 sensors I bought elsewhere for free... mainly because I had installed aftermarket o2 sensors to solve my issue and they didn't want to diagnose the car without Mopar sensors. They wanted $1000 for the install w/ 4 hours of labor to unscrew 4 bolts and screw in 4 bolts. Told them to go **** themselves, they called me the next day and said they would install the sensors for free when they installed the PCM.

But the entire rim deal is the principle behind it. They parked my car in a spot that when I walked up to it I wouldn't see it unless I did a walk around...

Then when I tried to bring it up it seemed like a big deal.

My car had already pretty much sat there for 3 weeks, time is money and money is time. Last thing I want to do is make another trip there only to not have my car. Ive been wanting to go on a road trip... now Ive got this bullshit.

Yep, time for a different dealer. I've been to crappy dealers before like that, they suck. Everything is a giant hassle. The dealer I go through now is pretty cool, so I've stuck with them even though it's a little further than some of the dealers closer to my home. Once you find a good one, stick with them. More crappy ones out there than good ones.

I have been lucky to have my dealer so close to me, the guys there are cool about working on the car, even when it is just a computer diagnostic problem. (I have never been charged for computer time...) When I make a request, it is usually fulfilled, even if it sometimes is on their nickel. One of the coolest things is that the service manager will go out to the car and get the odometer reading when I check the car in for service. He will also note obvious blemishes and we will talk about them and note them on the paperwork before the car goes in for service. This is an excellent CYA for the dealer and for me. I really like that, as it keeps the dealer from paying for unnecessary work on other people, but also helps to keep his rates down for me. I would argue that if your mechanic isn't doing that for you, it is a disservice to all involved.:smiley_thumbs_up:
