I always hoped they would bring back the Duster/Demon with the 5.7, imagine 800lbs lighter.
Yeah, the rule of thumb ive heard is one tenth for every 100 lbs weight loss in the 1/4 mile.
I keep threatening my Wife that I am going to strip the Challenger and put the running gear into a 70/76 Duster. Certainly wouldn't drive as nice, but it would be a strip only toy.
You would have to put a parachute on that thing Rob.:Wow1::
Can you imagine if the modern Dart being was designed as a V8 powered, RWD coupe? It would only make sense if it was made smaller than a Challenger. Also, its "jellybean" body design would have to go.
It is true that these were not entirely stock cars and once the modding starts there no longer is a way to compare.
back in the day (1982) I had a 70' 6 pack 440 4 speed challenger and my father had a 70' 426 auto challenger we were on the freeway when he motioned me to go for it, I geared down to 3rd he went to 2nd,I squeezed past him.the thing was I could have gone down to 2nd, I had 3.23 gears...yes this an old thread SS
I have the next best thing,a punched out 440 in 69 A body
