Hi Everyone! I'm new to the forum. I'm having an issue with my 2010 Challenger V6 and hoping someone has advice or has experienced the same thing.

My ESP/BAS warning light keeps coming on. When it does, there is a significant loss in acceleration. I really put my foot down but the car is very slow to get up to speed. When I get it up to speed, it will sputter if I try to accelerate too fast.

AND, when I completely shut the car off, then re-start it, the light goes away and the car runs normally.

Took it to the dealership and because I restarted it, there was no light and the car ran ok. They didn't want to get into guessing as that would be costly and may not fix the issue...

HELP! :)

Hello from Strasburg, VA

Hello and Welcome to the 'Z' from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. :4-wavey:Enjoy your Ride and the Site! You'll find some knowledgeable and friendly people to answer your questions or just entertain you. Glad you could join us!

The ESP/BAS lights can be tied into both the wheel speed sensors and the ABS sensors, although yours is the first I've heard of affecting performance. Since it seems that you can create the problem at will, take it back to your dealer and see if you can get the Service Manager to go on a ride with you and you recreate the symptom for him.

Sounds like the ESP may be pulling fuel since you say it's sputtering. Like others said, put a code reader on it and try to re-create the issue for your dealer.

Welcome to the Z from AZ! Sorry I can't help you out, I would advise you to have the dealer hook up the scan tool though, there should be a history stored in the computer of previous fault codes and they should be able to find it quickly from that. Best luck!

intermittent issues are simply the worse to diagnose!!!

I'd try the above...or reboot the PCM...disconnect the battery...hit the starter a couple of times and then reconnect the battery. I know this has worked on my Ram!

good luck
