Seen oval and d-shaped thrown around, a lot of "he said..., she said...," but no clear answer yet. Just wanted to see if Kooks LTs D-ports would match my 5.7 if the shapes even matter that much.
I have a 2012 Challenger RT Classic and it has the Eagle heads D port. Put JBA shorty headers on with D ports. Also get the mopar gaskets. Through the other gaskets in the trash.
If you get a set of shortie headers for the D port heads, get a set of headers made for the square port heads. Having that "cliff edge" extending into the port acts as an anti-reversion step and prevents backflow into the port at valve overlap. It works just like the anti-reversion headers with the cone in the port that were sold by many manufacturers back in the day. I think it was Doug Thorley that had it first. In more modern times, we have anti reversion muffler inputs that look something like this...
There is also discussion here on how to build your own set of anti-reversion chambers.
