My wife was going through some old paper and and found a notice from FCA called "6.2L AND 6.4L ENHANCED SECURITY FEATURE".

I can honestly say I have never seen this nor have I seen talk about it on the forum. Mind you I am not on here every day.

Apparently the dealer will update the RF-Hub to prevent thieves the ability to program their own key fob! Just what we need.

It says the update is free of charge and to just make an appointment.

Can anyone tell me how long this notice from FCA has been out? Have many of you done it?

This has been available to some model years and trims from late 2021.

Notice for RF Hub lockout on HellCat.org.

Search the forums and you can find several posts regarding those that have done it.

Thank you I'll take a look.

I didn't think anything would be available from FCA for 2018 SPSs.

But I could be thinking about the other update as to provide a 4 digit code to run the vehicle which I believe is only available for 2019+ vehicles.

I'll check with my dealer on Monday.

I believe you may be referring to the Enhanced Valet mode. I think Dodge is no longer offering this update as it has created issues. No word on when they may deploy, if ever, an updated version. Some models/trims already have a valet mode that limits horsepower. Just not as effective as what the enhanced version would have been able to implement against theft.

Hello, I contacted my dealer in regards to the Enhanced Security Feature as per the FCA letter and sorry to say in typical fashion "they know nothing about it". Instead of contacting FCA directly they talk amongst themselves and shrug their shoulders and now makes me do all the leg work. They obviously don't believe me as they asked me to bring in the letter. There are NO specific numbers on the letter.

Can anyone tell me if there is an FCA recall or campaign number(s) associated with the campaign notification?

It is called the "6.2L and 6.4L Enhanced Security Feature".

Maybe Dodge Helps USA is around who could help?

Thanks Jim

I just got off the phone with FCA Canada and they don't know anything about this campaign, nothing against my VIN. I wonder if they just cancelled it last year. They asked for a picture of the letter and will investigate and get back to me.

They're sending out recall notices in inverse order of model year. Currently, I think only 2021/2022 models have received the notice. 2018 might come later this year, but don't be surprised if it rolls over into next year. I've also read some narratives that the ESF upgrade has been buggy and FCA might have suspended the rollout until they can fix the bugs. By the time they get to your 2018, the upgrade should be solid.

Thanks, yes I believe I received my notice late 2021 for my 2018. But I think only the 2018 model year was going to get the RF HUB reprogramed feature, and 2019+ was going to get the 4 digit code mod. FCA should get back to me next week. They did give me a case #.

Hi all, just a quick update, after a week FCA is still unable to confirm if this is a valid campaign. It is interesting though she said she was going to call the dealership and see why the software update is not linked with my VIN. As I said to her before the service department nor the service manager knew anything about this update. The more I go down this path I get nervous about getting this feature enabled. I mean on the surface I think it a great way to prevent someone from creating a new key fob through the ODB port. As far as losing a key I have never done that in 50 years and I do have both keys, the odds are low that they would both be lost. To prevent key signal detection I have a Faraday bag where are store both keys at home and when out and about I have a single Faraday bag that I use.

It's a valid campaign (not a recall) and has been around for quite a while. The dealer probably doesn't want to do it because if you lose your fob they have to replace the entire RF hub and it's very expensive and they probably don't want to deal with the repercussions of it. Besides, cars aren't being stolen with new fobs, they're being flat-bedded and hauled away, so the RF hub update is of questionable value. The "Enhanced Valet Mode" was cancelled shortly after introduction and is no longer available.

Well I hate to differ but its an epidemic here in the Greater Toronto Area and it was recently demonstrated on our National news on how easy it is to make a new key fob using a smart OBD tool available online for about $1k and using unprogrammed key fobs, done within minutes. Of course for the OBD method they need access to the vehicle, most times it is shown they just break a window to gain access. Also they can create and program a key fob using the VIN method. Police here are recommending that you cover your VIN located at the base of the windshield with a piece tape. There are zero stats reported in regards to cars being stolen using flat beds.

I'm sure it was big news but the news (and especially Candaian news) is not known for being terribly accurate. Good story? They're in. Accurate? Not as important. Programming new keys was how thieves were stealing these cars a few years ago but it's too time consuming and they've moved on. Now, it's easier to break the glass, pop the neutral pull and push it away and onto a flat bed. Gone in 15 seconds. I'm not telling you not to get the RF hub done, get it done if you want. But don't get it done under the assumption that your car is now safe if you do.

Hi, just wanted to close this out FCA did get back to me and will honor the letter and the dealership has confirmed this. Once out of storage I will get the RF hub feature completed. I may have mentioned this already but my insurance company has offered to pay for the Tag Anti theft system, a $400 value for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. They hide a number of tags on the vehicle and you are registered with TAG a 5 year North American subscription. Their success rate of recovery is high. I know its after it stolen but ever bit helps. Hope I get a letter for the Scat.
