After spending $2k last winter to get body panel rust repaired by a pro shop, my Challenger has seen it's last drive during winter. Never again. This winter she's been under cover in the barn, protected by 4 house cats that stay slightly hungry.

Now that the days are getting longer, I will soon be getting some basic maintenance done. At 95k miles I have had to do struts, brakes, etc. lately. And now I have to do an upper radiator hose and refill the coolant bottle to get her ready for spring.

Amen. I had seriously considered making my 22 Shaker a daily driver, but the owner of the bodyshop down the street who I trust implicitly shook his head and said "Keep that car indoors in winter"😂...he's seen the cancer caused by that foam, despises it, and convinced me the only shivers from my Shaker are going be from a cold garage.

There's always the dilemma..........do I drive because I the love car so much, or do I love it so much that I need to take the best care possible for my Challenger?

My money sez the latter.

11 Feb in Iowa and it's 45 degrees. Not a whole lot of snow on the ground, but it's still too early.

Forecast through March shows most highs in the upper 40's and lows in the 30's. If I had to make a prediction, I'd say the week of 19 March is my target. I hope March is a rainy month 🤠.

Same kinda weather here today in northern Illinois, almost all the snow gone as well...but the local roads, despite a full night of heavy rain on Wednesday-Thursday have a crust of salt remaining, and the beet-juice stripes are still very visible. I want SO bad to take it out...but I'll wait a couple more weeks...or a month.

I know the symptoms all too well. In my younger days I'd be fighting the same urges. Fortunately for me my car is stored six miles away. So at least I don't see it every day, cuz the devil on my shoulder would be telling me to do it.

Many is the time that the weather in March seems to improve only to have that snow show up on, of all days, but April fools Day! Sounds crazy but I won't trust the weather until after the first week of April.

As of today, looking to be out of storage in three weeks. Got a heavy rain coming in the next 24 hours to wash off all the salt from the winter. Forecast for March looks like highs jumping from mid 30's to 50's and 60's by the 20th.

This will be the 4th year in a row that mid-March puts me back in the saddle 🤠.
