This was BEFORE Pearl Harbor ! Henry Ford was determined that he could mass produce bombers just as he had done with cars, so he built the Willow Run assembly plant in Mich. and proved it. It was the world's largest building under one roof at the time.
This film will amaze you - one B-24 every 55 minutes, and Ford had their own pilots to test them!!
Adolf Hitler had no idea that the U.S.A. was capable of this kind of manufacturing.

I got the chance to walk through a B-24 in 2004. It looked a lot bigger in the movies. The waist gunner areas are tight to say the least. Same with the B-17, looked a lot bigger in the movies. Both are great aircraft.

I was inside a Lockheed C-130 a few years ago and couldn't believe the space inside... aside from the fact the thing could actually take flight.
A C-130 is big inside. I flew from New River North Carolina to Yuma Arizona in one, it was a long, cold flight.

Guys, the C-130's are big, but not as big as the C-141 and C-5 Galaxy planes. As a paratrooper out of Fort Bragg, NC I have jumped from all three of those aircraft many times.

Of the three, the C-130 is the easiest to jump from because you jump from the side or the back. The C-141 and C-5 require you jump from the side only and the jet sheer is so bad that it rips your hair and skin. I still would rather have ripped hair and skin than sitting at a computer writing about it though!
