If you want OEM, research what was done on your particular model and go accordingly. On Graveyard Carz, I have seen Mark paint quite a few of them on the engine.

I've used a barbeque grill paint, maybe made by Rustoleum. It has a finish that is close to bare manifolds. It only last a few years before they will start to rust around the edges though. I think Eastwood might make some paint for them also.

I believe 100% correct is they were painted as part of the engine, usually light coverage compared to the engine, and they it burns off rather quickly and then they rust.
