During a trip across the Midwest last week I came across a 70-71 AAR cuda 340 Auto great all around shape has all factory stripes and wheels just like it rolled off the line. The owner showed me the car after seeing me stop for a food stop with my SRT8 told me he would go 35,000 almost ask him to trade me, He had to be over 70 years old and a bit crabby so I am sure not many have ever seen this car. I will be headed back next month and would like to have a serous talk with him.

    What's it worth ?

Restored ones go from $60-80k so it depends on what shape it is really in.

It's in the kind of shape that a resto would be A criminal offense to tell ya the truth.

A true survivor can be worth more than a restored one sometimes but it depends on what a buyer wants. It would have to have documented low miles. By the way AARs only in 1970.

AAR's were '70 only.....very desirable. $35K would sound like it's a non matching numbers car. And as Corbin said, it depends on the shape of the car, wiring, frame, panels, engine etc.

It would actually concern me that the car is that good and offered up for sale . AAR CUDA's are no secret particularly if you have a sweet one . You may pick up a non matching numbers fresh resto ( probably full of bog ) done to a driver standard in that range or an honest car that needs A LOT of love somewhere around that depending on options , but depending on numbers/options it could be worth double that and more .
Cracking car though , if it where a manual car I'd be on the guys doorstep cash in hand ( magnet and torch in pocket ) . :):)

Jay Leno's recent show featured unrestored cars and showed some worth more than restored. It looks like a growing trend.

You have to know what you are looking at. Is it original paint. Are all the parts under the hood original? Matching numbers? You need someone that really knows what they are looking at.

Too bad you couldn't take a picture of it. If he was cranky, then asking to take a pic might not go over too well. Plus he probably doesn't want pictures floating around. What color was it?

If it's a real AAR, unless it's a total basket case, it's worth more than $35k all day long even if it's not the original motor. 70 Cudas are bringing stupid money right now even for base models. Make sure it's got the fender tag and all the body numbers match. Buy it before he changes his mind.
