Got some new tires put on the Challenger today! Went with the Firestone Firehawk GT's this time around from a recommendation from my friend Tom (TJGS). Took a little cruise after they were installed and they ride great! They look cool too!

I shopped around and got some prices from Belle Tire and Firestone. Called Firestone first, they quoted me at $1,100 for the tires mounted and balanced and with road hazard. I called Belle Tire and they said $995 out the door with road hazard, and they had $50 off for Black Friday so only $945! Called Firestone back to cancel my appointment with them and told them Belle Tire was going to do it for $150 cheaper and couldn't pass that up. The manager there then said he'd do it for $930 out the door with road hazard! So I kept my appointment and went up there today.

They checked my alignment and said it was pretty good but the toe was out just a little. So I had them do an alignment on the front end for $40. So out the door with new tires, road force balanced, lifetime rotation and balancing, road hazard, and a front end alignment was $970.

It certainly wasn't cheap, but if you shop around for tires on a 20" rim you'll soon find nothing is cheap! DinoMoparMan on here told me that the Firestone Wide Ovals weren't so hot of a tire, said they only lasted him 25,000 miles and they didn't handle all that well. I was quoted $788 for those tires originally. But I wanted to upgrade to the Firehawk GT's so they were a little more.

Anyway, just wanted to share my story and provide some info on pricing for others that are looking into new tires.

Here's a few pics of my new tires. I'm going to try and hold off on doing any burnouts at least for a little while haha!

I agree! I just went with the Goodyear RSA's last time because they came stock on the cars originally. Once I started reading more on here and talking to people about different tires I figured I'd give these Firestones a shot this time around. So far so good. We'll see how they go in the rain/snow compared to the RSA's, it's been nice and dry out so far today.

This forum is great for info though, can't beat it! Plus the people on here are genuinely kind and helpful compared to a lot of other forums I've been on. The Z rules!

My 2012 R/T came stock with FireHawk GT's....never drove them in the snow or rain, so I can't comment on the all weather factor, but overall, they were pretty good tires.

Mine also came with the Firestone Firehawks. I am glad they have been working well for others. I really like them and they seem to be keeping the tread pretty well. A real smooth ride too! Btw Carl, your car looks very nice!! Super clean!

They seem pretty cool so far. They ride great and they're pretty quiet too. I took it up to 90mph on the highway just after they were installed to check the balancing job and it was super smooth.

Thanks Betty, I washed it the other day and cleaned up the interior really good. Got new tires today and put in new spark plugs yesterday. I'm set for the winter now!

nice clean sidewalls I really like that. Is the tire width the same as stock? i am really thinking about going bigger in the rear when my Goodyear Supercars go....

Nice new shoes, Carl. I sure wish they still were available with the white lettering. That would complete the old-school look. You better get on detailing her, the second picture shows splash marks. lol :gy:

Yep they're stock replacement size tires. I think the SRT8's come with a little wider tire in the rear, maybe a 255/45/R20? Mine are 245/45/R20's all around. If it wasn't a daily driver I wouldn't mind going a little wider in the rear, but I need to be able to rotate them.

Haha yeah I know, I had it all cleaned up and then this morning when I took it up to the tire shop the roads were a little wet. Son of a gun! Haha!

Carl...... I have to set the record straight, those are not the FireHawks that I bought. You bought the GT's where as I bought the WideOval AS's I was looking at the GT's but the guy told me for my style of driving and all season ultra-performance I would be happier with the WideOval's. The WideOvals are great in the rain and snow. I am not sure about the GT's so now we'll see how they do for you.

As you can see, the tread pattern is quite different.............

Oh ok, I thought you had the Firehawk GT's? I must have misread some of your emails from before.

Well I'll see how they go then in the rain and snow. They're supposed to be an ultra high performance all season tire so we'll see!

If I remember correctly, the GT's have harder rubber and didn't do as well in the snow according to him. Mine have been great in the snow, I can start off in first instead of 2nd but I still start in 2nd to get moving ahead faster.

The manager had a Charger R/T and told me how he tried six different tire variations with it. He said he would sell me any tire I wanted but from his experience that I would be best suited for the WideOvals with my Challenger. I went with his recomendation and was not dis-appointed.

Keep us updated how yours handle in the rain and snow especially after 15,000 miles on them.

I see. I thought you had the Firehawk GT's this whole time. I read a lot of reviews online and most people seemed pretty happy with them in the rain and snow given them being an all season tire. I'll find out soon enough, I'm sure we'll get some snow soon haha!

I'm sure they'll be an improvement over the Goodyear RSA's. I was never impressed with those tires in the rain, they always spun too easily on wet pavement. Even the stock F1's that came on the car originally did better in the rain.

My 2014 100th anniversary RT Came with the firehawk GT tires stock and they are great. I can play an do some burnouts and the do well in the snow and rain. I don't think I will put anything else on my car.
I agree, I have to drive a short distance to the highway from our house, and it had ice the other day. Car drove great and I have 26,000 miles on my tires. I drove on a little ice on Thanksgiving Day on a backroad and the tires were great! I also like how they are holding up!

I've heard they last a long time. They have a 460 tread rating which is pretty good. The Goodyear RSA's had a 260 rating. Hopefully I'll get 40,000+ miles out of these.

Good to hear they're good in the rain and snow. I'll report back on here once we have a big snow storm on how they handle the snow.
