It looks like Hellcat's and Hemi V8 Challenger sales are doing well .

Per this article on allpar: http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php/2015/01/hellcat-takes-a-big-bite-of-challenger-sales

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is making its mark. The limited edition muscle car accounted for 9% of all Challenger sales so far in the 2015 model year. Considering that the Hellcat’s base price is $14,000 higher than the Challenger SRT 392 and $28,500 more than the Challenger R/T with the 5.7-liter HEMI, nine percent is quite an achievement.

Plummeting gas prices may be having an effect on sales of the HEMI V8s. In the 2014 model year, the SXT with the Pentastar V6 accounted for 53% of all Challenger sales. So far in the 2015 model year, that percentage has dropped to 38% while the R/T (including the R/T Scat Pack) has become the best-selling trim line.

The greater customer preference for Hemi V8s is no doubt satisfying to the factory workers and production coordinators, given the popularity of the Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler, which use the same powerplant (along with the 200, minivans, Rams, 300, Charger, and ProMaster).

2015 DODGE CHALLENGER SALES BY MODEL LINE 2015 Model Year 2014 Model Year SXT 38% SXT 53% R/T 31% R/T 37% R/T Scat Pack 16% R/T Shaker 4% SRT 392 6% SRT Core 3% Hellcat 9% SRT8 3%

In 2009, 75% of Challenger production was of V8 powered trim levels. Later, the V6 trim levels gained a larger percentage of production which was likely due to customers' more careful spending habits due to the recession and high gas prices. So this is a good sign of better times.

It is probably more of the 'gotta have' crowd. The 2015s are newly changed so there are a lot of folks that are ordering the V8 cars. I am on many forums and a lot of 2009-2011 Challenger owners are ordering the new 2015 RT, Scat Pack, SRT and Hellcats. Lower fuel prices might help short term as well although I don't think too many Challenger folks care about fuel economy.

I'm glad to see V8 sales are running strong. Hopefully it means seeing a few more modern Mopars at the strip, I get tired of being just about the only Mopar at the track. I also think it will mean better and cheaper aftermarket go fast parts, which in the long run will be good for Challenger owners and for Chrysler in general as it should create some brand loyalty among a new generation.

I'm very happy for the folks at Dodge, but I kinda liked it better being in the minority.......
I agree, it was better when I rarely saw another R/T Challenger let alone an SRT. Now I can't walk across the street without seeing one, mostly R/T's and SXT's with the occasional SRT. Hard to believe this year my Challenger will be 5 years old, doesn't seem that long.
