Interesting. For being a heavy boat, it sure did move.

That was a cool video! As far as the auto vs the manual transmissions goes today's automatics are so fast and so very consistent during shifting. With the manual their is a certain possibility of missing a shift and not staying consisting and I prefer a manual. Also the speed of shifting cant be duplicated on the manual because the automatic shifts in milliseconds.

It's completely evident in the video, the 6-speed Mustang looses ground at every shift point. The Automatic Hellcat just glides through the shifts with no interruption of acceleration.

Though I LOVE street racing, I just can't imagine that just punching the gas pedal with no other involvement would be as much of a driving experience as rowing through the gears.....I just don't know.:4-dontknow:

I am not a fan of street racing.....not saying I never did it, way too many risks involved. The transmission selection is purely a personal preference but I'm like you I enjoy rowing the gears! :smiley_thumbs_up:

This new 8 speed box is a different thing to drive . It's very difficult to describe , the engine braking on down shift is something I'd never experienced in an auto . It doesn't sit down like an old car with split second lag and because there is so much power you can't have your foot in it constantly . It's like your changing gear with your foot so if you want to change down a gear you just give it a slight squeeze and when you release slightly the revs don't drop off like it knows you want to play . I driven manual cars all my life so it was a big risk to go auto but am shocked how much I like it . ps I hate the paddle shifts on this and everything else I've driven but the manual mode on the stick ( floor ) is fun but 8 gears is probably a few to many . You can't make a bad choice here there both top class

Im not much of a street racing fan either, way too dangerous and too many consequences but it seems that the Mustang didn't stand much of a chance against that 8 speed auto, its just too overpowering.

I think sticks are more fun but autos are better for racing (i.e. consistency, faster shifts, etc). Depends on what you want to do with the car and what your preference is. Honestly if you have a Hellcat with either transmission it's going to be awesome...because it's a Hellcat! Haha!

Looks like the guy in the Mustang got the jump on the hellcat each time, had they been at a real race track and launched from an even start I'm guessing the Hellcat would have totally obliterated the Mustang. Getting the jump on someone can make a big difference in a race and it looks like the Mustang got a half second or more jump each time. If your the guy doing the count down you most likely drop the hammer on three giving you the advantage over the guy that has to hear three then react to it followed by the car reacting etc..

I find winning a lot of fun LOL. :smiley_thumbs_up: I've owned manual cars in the past and used to race a super charged 5.0 Mustang with a maunal transmission, can't say I miss it all that much especially at the track. With the automatic I've found my best results by holding gear maually a few hundred rpms beyond the stock shift point resulting in knocking a tenth or more off the quarter mile time of just letting the car shift in Drive (I don't know if this would be a factor in a Hellcat). So there is still driver involvement if you want it. But if pushing in a clutch adds to your enjoyment then more power to you, got to buy what you enjoy the most.

Yeah I agree the guy in the Mustang gets the jump every time and the Hellcat still catches up and passes him. At the track the Hellcat would definitely be way ahead of the Mustang.

Yes, it very obvious that the mustang racer has the advantage because he knows and hears the countdown. No one can hear going that fast. If these two met at the track, it would be a long day for the mustang.
