Well for one just because you can afford a Hellcat doesn't mean you know how to drive one at the track LOL. Then it's bad enough that he red lighted but he compounded things by holding in the throttle instead of rolling in. Would some of you Hellcat guys invest in a set of Weld wheels and drag radials, I mean come on you can afford a 60K car but you can't spring for the right shoes LOL.

Teslas are wicked fast, but that Hellcat was probably being driven by that Colorado doof that wrecked his own Hellcat a couple of weeks back!

I'm sure it was driven by someone hand picked by Tesla who looked to be the stupidest idiot they could muster up, lol. That Chally could have beat the Tesla without trying if the driver tried. Sure the Tesla is for dummies who can't drive but a 100 mph in the 1/4? That Hellcat driver was probably told to just mash the gas to show happed if you were an idiot with no brains who doesn't know how to use the computer setting to race it.

Interesting how everyone watching just had eyes on the Hellcat, no one seemed to interested in the Telsa. Pretty embarrassing moment for the driver of the Hellcat, he/she was a rock star... till the tree started :shakehead:

Those Tesla's are impressive. Too bad the cost is even more prohibitive than a Hellcat.
As for the video...I'm guessing this is the first (or near first) time at the track for the driver of the Hellcat. I hope he practices his launch before heading back...and DR wouldn't hurt either. I'm sure he's pretty embarrassed about the whole thing.
I've never been to the track, and never really raced on the street, so that's probably what would happen to me, even in my R/T. Just goes to show that a good driver is a huge part of the equation.

The Tesla is practically fool proof to launch while the Hellcat takes finess and skill of which this driver has neither. The thing that gets me is that I keep seeing on the Yahoo news feed a headline reading "Tesla SMOKES Hellcat". I can't stand sensationalized headlines with half truths. The artical acted as if the muffed start had nothing to do with results and the 17+ second quarter mile and maybe the Charger could beat it. The Tesla is fast but either Hellcat is capable of better than the 11.6 it posted:shakehead:

A Tesla's motor starts to die out on the top end, and with no gears to reduce the RPMs, it makes them kind of weak when they are spun up to 10k.

I had one on my butt on the freeway, doing about 70. The driver was assuming proper racing posture (1 hand on the top of the wheel), and as soon as the right lane cleared up he began to try to pass me. As soon as I saw his blinker go on, I slammed it into 3rd and goosed it. The Tesla had gone from being 15 feet behind me, to my passenger door instantly, but I pulled away from him slowly, only to have it catch up with the delay between my shifts. He never got farther than the middle of my car.

The road became congested ahead, as California freeways do for seemingly no reason, and I began to slow down while he still tried to get in front of me, only to be met by cars going 30 MPH slower than him. He didn't look all too happy to have been beaten by an "old fashioned" pushrod engine when we got off at the next exit, and I was surprised to see that it was the P85 model.

Hopefully that guy realized that instant torque doesn't do much good when you are going 70 in a 4600 lb. vehicle, and consequently stop driving like a jerk.

Well I don't own a Hellcat but as the owner of a shaker challenger I am getting tons of heat from my friends that the big bad hellcat got its ass whipped by an electric vehicle. I also got a bunch of crap from those friends when there was a recent video of a hellcat beating a Z06 vette which I also own. In fact there was a video going around of Hitler being pissed off because a new vette which he has on order was beaten by a hellcat. Damn funny stuff. Bottom line is who gives a s**t. Life is good to have cars with this type of performance!

I just saw a video over on the corvette forum of a base corvette 455 hp with the Z51 suspension on the track with a Tesla. I was expecting the Tesla to beat out the corvette like it did with the Hellcat. To my amazement the corvette beat the Tesla with an 11.67 run vs an 11.8 something by the Tesla.

Can't be a stock Vette running an 11.6.
