I have an 09 Challenger and whenever the temperature outside drops below freezing, usually 20 or below, and I run the defrost, all of the windows inside start to fog up and eventually frost, I have to keep the blower on high just to be able to see out of the windshield. I have read some other forums about this problem but most of them deal with the Charger and some "recirc blend door" that cost around $26 or something. I called the dealership and they told me that I would have to replace the whole housing, part # 68044273AA, at a cost of $287. Has anyone else had a problem with their interior windows fogging up and frosting over when running the heat/defrost in very cold temperatures? The A/C works in the summer so I don't think that is the problem.

I have found this only happens when there is a light coating of "dust or window film" on the surface of the glass. Try using Stoners window cleaner on the inside surfaces and it will minimize or eliminate most frosting.

I've tried cleaning the windows and all of that, the problem still occurs. I know it has something to do with warm, moist air circulating in the cab, I just don't know what the cause is for sure and how to fix it.

took my car into the shop on friday, exactly what i thought, the re-circulation door broke, they have to pull the whole dash to replace it, approx 1200.00 to repair, thank god i bought extended warranty-covers it all with no deductible plus covers my rental for 5 days.everyone else having the same problem, this is more than likely the reason

Well, the real solution when you get in the car is to just stop breathing until you reach your destination. Sorry, just had to kid you a little. Sounds like you are getting some good feedback/solutions to the problem. Good luck with the fix!!

I had this problem a log time ago, but for me it was that I had the recirculate button pressed and didn't know it, there was no lights on to indicate I had it pressed, I drove a whole winter like that before I cleaned the car and ended up pressing the button and notice it sat differently once I did....problem then went away.

Anyway a little trick we use on ski googles and on face shields for hockey helmets is to rub shampoo on , let it dry a bit, then wipe it off. This stops any fogging, it might work here for you at least stop the icing up, :4-dontknow: it may be a temp. thing for now until you get the issue sorted and fixed.

I spoke to the dealership and they said they did some research and it sounded like it was a recirc door. He said it was buried in the dash so they would have to take it apart and it would cost around $600 to fix. I told them I will just deal with it. At least I got it somewhat confirmed what it is now.

Well a couple of years ago I had my heater core replaced. When I got the car back I had a rattle under the dash took it back and the re circulation door was broken Back in had the dash removed and replaced again. ( luckily it was covered under extended warranty). Last winter I started to have the window frosting up problem. I used WD40 on the weather stripping and it seemed to stop. This year it's worse. Haven't had time to try the WD40 trick this year. Maybe tomorrow. I left the WD40 in the garage it worked for about ten second then it froze up. I read on line possible causes can be seals doors or sunroof or a leaking heater core. I don't smell anti freeze and I'm getting good air flow through all the vents. so I'm hoping the WD40 does the trick. Any other suggestions?
