I through a rod in my 5.7 rt 6speed but I have a good 5.7 out of a another car like mine except it's a automatic and I was told it would not work
That has nothing to do with the engine, only with the transmission. The manual has a different length driveshaft than the automatic.
I think it's relatively all the same. As was previously stated however, the engines in the manual trans cars do not have MDS. You'll need to perform an MDS delete at the very minimum on the other engine. For the work that's required to do that, you might as well do a cam upgrade while you're in there. Will need a tune probably either way.I believe the innards (pistons/crank/cam) of the 5.7L that comes in the 6spds are better. I believe the 5.7L engine itself from an Auto can bolt up to the 6spd tranny regardless of driveshaft length.
