I have a 2012 R/T Classic....I drive on weekends and the rest of the time it is kept in the garage..I'm also like everyone else on this forum about this car..I love it...Well Saturday I get in and it says "Key fob not detected"..Well it was in my pocket as usual...hmmmpf...thats weird....well I go get other key fob from inside, same thing "not detected"...car does start and everything, but this msg stays on for quite some time...Came out from shopping and remote started it(something I never do) just to see what would happen....started right up....still getting msg though..Just went to auto zone to get batteries, which by the way I thought was kinda odd being as though I only use one key fob all the time...anyway we chck it in the store and both batteries are good...even pushing buttons from inside store and my car being about 100ft away lights, horn alll do what they're supposed to do...I even remote started it from front door...Still have that msg.."Key fob battery low" Does anyone have any clue if anything as to what I can do?

Did you actually change to fresh batteries? If not the old ones may test OK but be low enough the car want's you to change them BEFORE they go bad.

I have had the habit of leaving the extra fob in my console, since I move it out of the garage a lot for washing and cleaning. Well it got really cold, and I went out to start the car one day. The fob gave me the same message. I went and got my fob that was in my purse and it worked fine. So I brought the other fob in the house and decided to leave it in the warmer air. After a few days that fob worked fine, message went away. Would the cold cause this problem???

No,I didn't change batteries, but maybe I should. It is the fob I"ve used since 07/14/12 the day I bought my car..and no I don't believe it gets cold enough here, although since it doesn't get cold here often, maybe when it does that might be why..I dunno

Mine just did this so I swung into the dealership and they replaced the battery last week. Cost me $3.78.
Thanks for the info on the price! Didn't know for sure what the cost would be!

I'm surprised the dealer charged a fair price for a change. I had so many problems with my key fob with my previous Challenger, I was an expert at dis-assembly and reassembly in order to take out the still good battery and reinstall it to reset the fob to make it work. I was like Forrest Gump taking apart his rifle and putting it back together--"Because you told me to, Drill Sergeant!"

I know from experience that the fob battery will show good on a tester but cause problems. The fobiks are very sensitive to battery state. I just change all ours once a year and all problems have gone away. Very cheap insurance.

Glad you got it solved. Also, you can try radio shack if they are closer than a dealer. They are not supposed to help you replace it (liability concerns) but both times they either went ahead and did it or walked me through it - quite simple.

After working outside all day in cold weather my car does not recognize the key fob. So I had to keep it in my hands and warm it up before it can unlock the doors. Michel
This happens even with a new brand name battery installed?

I have had mine since 2010 and never changed mine. now I am going to cause sure as me writing this they will go bad.
Do you have the keyless go? The keyless go feature is a lot more sensitive to battery state than the remote. Regardless for a dollar I would change the battery.

This winter I was leaving the extra fob in my console, just was easier when I wanted to pull the car out to wash, etc. One day I went to start the car and the low battery message came on. It was just cold from being out in the garage. After I took it in the house, it worked fine the next time.
I am going on two years, so I suppose I should replace those batteries!
