My 2011 challenger 3.6 had to have 4 out of 6 cylinder heads replaced, phasers,
cam shaft, i only have 23,400 miles.
There are major issues with the 2011/2012 3.6L engines, I didnt think it would happen to mine. oh well, all covered under the POWERTRAIN WARRANTY !

the Service guy stated they replaced with better parts ! I hope thats true !!!!!:SHOCKED::SHOCKED:

You should only have two cylinder heads, one for each bank of cylinders right? What caused them to replace all that stuff though, did your engine just give out or something? That really sucks, good thing it was covered under warranty, that would have been expensive otherwise.

yes the cylinders have cam phasers. my Engine is the 2011 that shows up as the 1st 3.6
and these do have issues.
I do have the MAX care Lifetime warranty !!! so im not worried if anything goes, that lasts until 2098... I do want a 2015 RT- but have to many bills (mortgage , heloc loan !)
my Dakota i need to replace next. so unless i hit a scratch ticket , the 2011 stays

Good! Sounds like you're all set. Pay no attention to the little devils who like to perch on people's shoulders and coax them into a (deeper) debt hole! ;)

Such is the life of the 3.6L. I couldn't tell you how many cylinders head and cam phasers, and water pumps, and idler pulleys, and oil pumps, and oil pressure sending units, and even whole engines for mis-machined coolant passages I've had to replace at work. Doesn't matter what car, minivan, 200, 300, charger, journey, pickup, wrangler, grand cherokee ect. These major repairs seem to be going away now, I think their finally working the bugs out of the 3.6L

If you've got that warranty then it sounds like you're covered and all set. Upgrading would be cool of course but sometimes it's just not practical. I'd love to get a Hellcat but the reality is I'm lucky to have the car I have right now haha! Hope you get all the bugs worked out of it!

Wow I never knew the 3.6 had so many issues when they first came out ... all I ever heard about was the junk heads they had , but not all the other stuff... ?

Good to know, thanks. Sounds like something to avoid (at least for now), much like the old 2.7.

Too bad, though, since its ~300 HP is impressive. Hopefully, they'll get it turned around.

So sorry Erik......sounds like maybe this should be a recall item....maybe Chrysler should step up and stand behind their product. Good thing you had an extended warranty....wonder how much $$$ that would have cost if you didn't??????

Erik, what a pain it has to be to have your Challenger in for so many repairs. At least the warranty is covering the costs but it is still a major inconvenience to you. Hopefully this will be the last trip and the bugs have been removed!
