This is a tutorial of how to install Mopar Hood Pins. I had to make this in two parts. Part two is called Mopar Hood Pin Install Part 2. This kit is a genuine Mopar part. I hope you find it helpful.

Text Line art Diagram Drawing

Tools needed: trim removal tool, 3/4 box wrench, metal file, Phillips screwdriver, 10mm socket, small flathead screwdriver, greese pencil, drill and 1 1/4 metal hole saw.

Remove trim panel this is flexible and no tools are needed.
From this,
Purple Bumper Automotive exterior Material property Metal

To this
Electronics Machine Metal

Using a trim removal tool or a small screw driver remove outer trim attachment. Only this one.
Tool Cutting tool Blade

Remove the only vertical fender bolt using a 10mm socket.
Purple Violet Auto part Suspension Hood

Slid black pin plate under the plastic trim and above the vertical fender bolt.
Purple Auto part Automotive exterior Bumper Machine

Reattach plastic trim button and vertical fender bolt.

Rub greese pencil on the top of the hood pin.
Vehicle door Automotive exterior Bumper Trunk Material property

Gently close hood and look for greese transfer.

Drill hole from underside of hood. Drill through the inner and outer sheet metal. Attach rubber grommet to underside of hood hole. (Grommet not shown).

Close the hood and adjust hood pin with 3/4 inch box wrench.

Without removing the tape from the escutcheon place it over the hood pin and adjust to proper height and tighten hood pin.

Drill corresponding hole in plastic trim panel and attach rubber grommet.

Feed lanyard through grill and attach to pin plate
Automotive lighting Headlamp Vehicle Light Car

Purple Material property Glass Automotive exterior

Install plastic trim.
Purple Pink Automotive exterior Material property Bumper

Perminatly attach escutcheon secure lanyard.
Purple Violet Automotive wheel system Circle Wheel

Some side notes. When drilling the hole into the plastic trim panel, unscrew the hood pin from the hood pin plate and apply a small amount of greese to the receiving portion of the hood pin plate. Rest the plastic trim panel on top and look for greese transfer, then drill the hole.

Place some towels over the engine while drilling holes then use an air compressor to blow away shavings.

Dodge did a nice job of adding some pearl to the paint.

Very good write up, Sir. Would love to see some more pics of the car with pins installed, but from what I can tell it looks awesome.

Looking forward to seeing you, the car, and those dang pins in June.

Looks great! Nice job. I am not sure I could overcome the anxiety of drilling holes in my hood. :eek:
I measures 3 times and brought a new hole saw. Patients and quality tools are important.

How could you do it , I NEARLY shed a tear . Haha each to their own ( I think ) . Very well executed and no signs of trauma , mod well done .
