Next will be a gas detector for a full EV, just don't pass gas while driving, or your car will shut off! 🤣

This is likely my last car so no big deal for me.
In the future they will be tracking everything you do and applying it to your social score which will be the most important thing in your life. That's only part of the magic of Socialism.

What's next? Maybe an infra red device to check for blood clots so they know that you got your mandated shot, and lock the car if you didn't? How about we keep upping the punishment of the guilty until the behavior modification desired is achieved rather than invading everyone's privacy and making us pay for the honor. This is just one more step in the process, like the frog in cool water that's gradually heated until it's too late.

Europe has recommended the same thing.
Not only recommended - the road map is set already, these will become required within short years among other "assistant systems"... Speed-limiters are even on shorter schedule (luckily, in case of need the speed limiter must allow kick-down override). With growing share of EV's the governments will face drop of tax collected on fuel sale, so they aim for integrated toll systems to charge every single mile of drive as well... Finally, Big Brother is simply everywhere.

Yeah, pretty dystopian if you ask me. Last thing I want is my car snitching on me. Also while at it - can we stop putting in the seatbelt alarms and trying to mandate more useless tech like backup cameras? Just learn to park SMH.

In defense of back up cameras I will say that they have a place in cars with poor outward visibility. And with the proliferation of ever larger and taller vehicles, a camera helps to spot oncoming cross traffic when backing out of a parking space that is flanked by trucks or SUV's. I still use my mirrors a lot, but for places that using the camera makes more sense I will use it too.

Fair, but I think it should still be optional to have one. Just no need to mandate it.

My opinion is if it's legal, leave it alone. If it's illegal, do something about it. The less government the better.
The government needs focus on government business and needs to stop reaching out to areas of none of their business.
