Hello All,

I discovered what i'm sure others have realized that the intake was not receiving air from the outside. The air passage was blocked off by a tube that diverted the air to the front drivers side tire. I made a modification to that and painted the airbox.

Has anyone else done this?

Here are the pictures of it and the how to.

I don't have an SRT so no duct work from my chin spoiler. But I did remove the lower radiator baffle on the driver's side, which is just a piece of plastic behind the lower grill that directs air into the radiator. If you remove that piece, air will be allowed to flow into the engine bay underneath where the stock intake pulls air up from (in front of the front tire enclosed area, etc). Between doing this and then removing the master cylinder cover from the cowl under the hood it allows cool air to rush under the air filter and provides an escape for hot underhood air. Best of all it's free.

There is a whole write-up and testing with results over on another forum. There is also a separate website some guy put together about Magnums where he did essentially the same thing.

If you only remove the one baffle it does not affect the cooling of the car at all. If you remove two or more tests showed negative effects on the cooling capacity of the car.

You may not have as much cool air going onto your brake rotors now, but honestly unless you're autocrossing the car for hours I highly doubt you really need that anyway. I'd rather have the cold air going up into the air filter like you have it now.

Awesome.

I also figured that only one cool tire would not make that big of difference If the other ones are still hot.

Thanks for the info.
