Ok, here's what's going on. At 10,000 miles my two back tires are shot. I know what your thinking, and I didn't burn them off. I have only lit up the tires twice since having her, and they were rolling burnouts. I had an alignment done at 2500 miles, all four corners were off. Rotated the tires at 4000 miles. Now at 10000 the tires have about 3/32 of an inch. They are slightly more worn on the outside. I have been feeling the car pull the last two weeks or so, but have not had time to go by the stealership. In your opinion, am I justified in saying the alignment prematurely wore out the tires? Should I try to have them replace them, or at least cover half the cost?

I don't know what tires are mounted on the '14 model R/T's. The idea that you rotated at 4K and it's the rears I would guess they were in front prior to the rotation. I think you'll be told normal wear and tear. Did you get the tire warranty when you got your car? You might be able to argue premature wear. I believe that sometimes at the factory a cheaper tire maybe installed that will wear out around 25K miles. I know GM did that with brakes. Your driving habits play a part in tire wear. You don't have to do a lot of burn outs but if you do a lot of spirited driving and push the threshold at every start after a stop by not quite breaking traction but you feel like you're close to breaking traction that can help to wear a tire out. Then again tight cornering and hard breaking going into a corner can wear the fronts out pretty quick. Just Sayin'. Good Luck in whatever you try to have the situation corrected by the dealer. Enjoy the Journey. Lou.

Dealerships do not warranty the tire, you'll have to go back to the tire manufacturer for that.
My bad. I just believe that when you get a car new there is something in place to cover tires that experience an exceptional situation for so many months or miles. But yeah after that it you and the manufacturer. Enjoy The Journey. Lou.

I have the 18" rims with the Michelin tires.

Michelins are a good tire generally but there are always exceptions. Once again, it'll be an uphill battle for you. Enjoy the Journey! Lou.

That's not to say the dealership won't help if it's early on but there's a separate warranty card in with the paperwork for the tires. After 10k I think the dealer would pass it on to the manufacturer unless there is definite proof that their alignment was off. In other words there will be finger pointing between the parties on who would cover it.

My opinion is good luck getting a warranty on the tires, but you never know. Hard cornering will typically wear the outside edge more than the rest of the tire and I do not mean slalom events, just a little faster in the turns than normal.

On my previous Challenger, I was only able to get about 11k miles out of the factory Michelins. I only did a couple of minor burnouts during that time. I was told that sometimes factory provided tires will wear out sooner.

Yeah, that reallyou irks me. You put tires on a 30,000 dOlla car that only last that long. I'll still have them do the alignment and I might can sweet talk the guy I deal with there into helping me with some tires. If that ends up happening, I'm gonna make sure they are bald before I buy the new ones! Anyone have a recommendation on 18" tires?

My car came stock with Goodyear F1's and they were bald at 13,500 miles. I did some burnouts with them, but also rotated them and kept them properly inflated. Some people got over 15,000 miles out of them, but they were just a fast wearing tire.

What tires were on your car? Were they summer performance tires? If so, that could explain why they wore out so fast.

The dealership most likely will not do anything for you on the tires, but you might be able to get the tire manufacturer to do something, maybe. I had three out of four Goodyear RSA's that were defective and out of round, they could not be balanced. I got Goodyear to prorate them and replace them, they covered about 75% of the cost on the three tires and the fourth I just bought on my own so I had new tires all around.

It's worth a shot, but unless you can prove they were defective, out of round, or something else like that, I don't know if the tire manufacturer will really do anything for you.
