Bottom line on T36 recall: It will cost FCA. .not only huge money but customer loyalty. ....... what a shame that. one bogus supplier can cripple a decent otherwise fine performing musclecar. .

In the same recall doesn't sound like parts will be available till next spring from when I was looking around earlier. I'll take her to a couple more shows this year and then put her away till next spring I'll be driving the jeep till then.

Rock auto has Denso re-manufactured 160A alternators for $188 (after $68 core charge). Will FCA reimburse you if you get one and do it yourself? The Denso references the MOPAR alternator part number that's indicated as 'OUT OF STOCK".
I know I couldn't sit around waiting for parts to available from FCA when there's open road ahead.

That's what I bought from Advance for $182. Works great! Waiting for an answer from FCA.

With all the cars ruined in the recent storms they are not going to be able to keep up with the demand.

Got my recall the other day, called my local Dodge dealer and they said it would be a couple weeks to get the part. They also said we would get notification that the part was in via mail.

If I used my car as a commuter, I would purchase a great upgrade with a new belt and install it myself.

I just got this recall before the Hurricane hit. Got power back and can look into it some more now.

Guess this is a unknown right now, but wondering how the aftermarket alt will do over time?

Maybe I would be better of just keeping the stock one instead of getting the core charge and having it fixed when they get the parts.

So I called and got my name on the list and gave my concerns to the person taking the call. Basicly told her what was I to do as they don't have parts till January.

Anyways they had a rep call me the next day. Suggested buying aftermarket and they would reimburse me. Didn't tell me how much they would reimburse me to but I'm assuming I can buy best available as I'm not going to hit them with a install fee from somewhere.

I expressed my concerns about the aftermarket one having the same defect. She really didn't have an answer but told me if I bought a replacement it would be eligible for the recall also. I'm seriously thinking about keeping the stock one and eat the core charge and just have the recall done on the OEM one.

How can I tell if I have a 160 or 180 amp alt? Is it stamped on their somewhere?

I got this heads-up notice about the recall, on my 5.7L Charger, a few weeks ago.

So now, 3 mos. after buying Advance Auto
Alt, it's making hissing noise like bearings!
Its still putting out good voltage however.
I'm on the list at alocal dealer for when they get more alternators .Ihope it doesn't burn up in the meantime!

So if your new alternator bearings are going, why not just bring it back for a new one. I sure it's under warranty.
Thought you were on FCA's list for reimbursement.

am on the list. .. but it's only been a couple of weeks. I checked the bearings.
Took off the serpentine belt and spun it ( alternator) by hand. Silky smooth. Not sure why its just
    under load that its noisy.

BTw, where is the sales code for the alt located? probably the broadcast sheet,
as we used to call it.

So I did a lot of complaining to person on phone about the recall. She said she elevated the case and now I have someone calling wee weekly to see if I did anything yet. Explained to her went through the hurricane and need some work done on roof and didn't really want to wait 1 or 2 months to get money back. She actually said she would get the check out in about 1 week.

She actually offered to put me in a rent a car until the part came in. That would be awesome as I put about 100 miles a day on truck. Only draw back is I have to leave the Challenger at the dealer until they get the parts. Not going to happen. Trying to get her to just have the dealer put on a new alternator. She will pay for that also but I would have to pay and wait on check also. Still working on getting that at no expense out of pocket.

Bottom line if you complain enough they look like they will work with you a little.
