Went to the dealership today to pick up some spark plugs for my Challenger and browsed through the lot for fun afterwards. Saw some nice 2015 Challengers on the lot, a few R/T's and a couple SXT's. No R/T Scat Packs or SRT's or Hellcats though unfortunately.

Wandered over to the used car lot and saw a nice 2009 Challenger SRT8 sitting there. Walked over to check it out and of course the salesman guy came out and got me. I asked him a few questions about it, sounded pretty solid.

Only has 17,000 miles and they're asking $26,900 now, just dropped the price recently. It's a black 6 speed, paint looks nice, wheels are nice, interior looked pretty nice, the drivers seat was a little worn but not bad. The tires are shot though, would need new tires. But not too bad for a car that probably stickered for $45K or so just 6 years ago.

Wouldn't be a bad upgrade for me honestly. I've got 58,000 miles on my car right now. Would go to a car with 17,000 miles and a little bigger motor too with the 6.1L. But it's a black car and it'd be a pain to keep clean driving it year round and I like the fact that I bought my car new and know all the history behind it, not to mention all the memories with my family and kids. Still though, seemed like a nice car for the money!

Thanks Carl, just what i want for x-mass. Can you wrap it up and send it to Sweden?
Seriosly, that is only half off the price i would have to pay for SRT8 here in sweden and there is not that many for sale here. Next Challenger i will import myself for sure.

Would be a nice upgrade Carl. Black is a tough color for sure....if it's Brilliant Black, the upkeep would be a little easier due to the flake, but still more of a job than your current H.O. You should think about it......you could make new memories!!!!!

Very cool Carl . Get it and we'll put a coating and that black paint. It'll really help keeping it clean.

Sounds like a good deal... does it have Nav. and a Sunroof? New tires will run you about $1500.00 if you go OEM (3 season) or you could get Goodyear F1's 245's at tirerack they are a steal right now....

Sounds like my first SRT. Boy, I liked that car! It looked great when it was all washed and waxed up.

Make a deal with the dealership and then as your final offer make them put new tires on it. It just may happen if they want a sale.

It's a really nice car but not sure I want to give up my R/T. If it were Hemi Orange then I would probably be looking into it a little more. If I could get it for $26K and they put a new set of tires on it that'd be pretty sweet. I'm guessing I'd be lucky to get $20K on my R/T on trade in, maybe $22-23K if I sold it privately.

It has a sunroof and navigation system as well. Looked like a pretty nice car. As much as I love how black looks, I'm not a fan of it just due to the upkeep.

I wonder if I called them up and said hey, I'll give you $25K for the car if you put a new set of Firestone Firehawk GT's on it and you give me $20K for my R/T. Wonder what they'd say? Probably a lot of laughter on the other side followed by a yeah right! Haha! If it were Hemi Orange it might be something to consider, but seeing how I drive the car year round the snow/salt would drive me nuts on a black car haha!

Man I love black! I hate black! Well let's just say it's a love hate relationship. Sounds like a pretty good deal though. I'm glad I'm not the only one who dreams about trading my car in but then when it comes down to it my stomach hurts when I start talking about numbers and actually attempting to trade it in. I'm in the same boat as you are with this car. I can't bring myself to trade it in.

I'm always on Craigslist, Autotrader, and dealership websites just browsing around for fun, sometimes I see some really good deals. I think black is a really nice color, but with my personality and my obsession with keeping my car clean I know it was drive me nuts, not to mention my wife too haha! We had a black Chrysler 200 for a while a few years ago and it drove me nuts washing that car constantly to keep it clean haha!

I think what I might end up doing is getting a used truck for next winter once my car is paid for. I'm hoping to pay it off a little early this spring. I've seen some really nice low mileage Ford Rangers and Chevy S-10's for $3K-4K that would be perfect for me in the winter. My dad said I could drive the truck up to his place up north during the summer so I don't have all these vehicles on our small little lot here haha! Found one with 90K miles, new tires, no dings/dents, runs great, 4 cylinder, 5 speed stick, for $3K. I saw one last year with 67,000 miles in great shape for only $2,500, that was a steal.

Anyway yeah I'm in the same boat as you, I like to look around, but when it comes down to it, I don't know if I could actually trade my car in. I get too attached to these cars for some reason haha!

Going to put a new set of spark plugs in my car this afternoon. Perfect day for it too, only 35 degrees out, nice and cold, so my hands will be freezing, haha! But I'll feel better afterwards knowing it has new plugs. Getting new tires put on tomorrow too! Might even order a Razors Edge front strut bar for it since they're 20% off at Speedlogix right now. It's a Challenger weekend haha!

Carl, it was 41 degrees this morning when I got up! It will get to 60 today. Yesterday had to be the perfect Thanksgiving. Drove the Challenger about 240 miles, perfect weather! The kids played outside---no coats! I never wore my coat yesterday! If we could trade places for one day, you could change those spark plugs in South Dakota!

Wow that sounds like some nice weather you guys got there! I think the high is only mid 30's today. Yesterday was pretty nice, but cold. I took the Challenger out to my in-laws and then to my grandma's. It was nice driving it all cleaned up for the holidays haha!

I can't wait until spring when it warms up and we don't need to bundle up every time we go out the door. The winters get to be kind of long with two little kids cooped up in the house haha!

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving!

Yes black is is a pain especially here in the desert but to me it is absolutely the best. I love looking at the other color Challengers and I am glad somebody else owns them so I can admire them. I put my car next to the Sublime Scat Pack and still chose Pitch Black. Sublime was my second choice. To each his own that's what keeps it fun.

I agree, looks great! I like the new wheels that they've come out with for the new Challengers, they look really modern but still fit the car really well.

This time of the year you can get a good deal but what can you get for your car.

I am always looking in the Auto trader and seeing some good deals now.

Its a hard decision especially when spending your hard earned cash :)

KBB says $22K or so for my car with it's condition and mileage and options. I'm sure the dealer would offer more like $19K or so since they always low ball you and need more room for profit.

I'm not pursuing that car, just wanted to check it out for fun. It'd be neat to upgrade, and if it were Hemi Orange I might have thought about it a little more. But I bought mine brand new and took great care of it and it's just about paid for now, so it'd have to be a real awesome deal for me to get rid of it for something else. Always fun to look around though!

Haha yep, good way to put it! That's pretty much how I am too. I look around but ultimately I'm happy with what's already in the garage. If anything I may get a used truck for next winter after my car is paid for just for winter use.
