Ohio sheriff says man was carrying
real handgun painted red to
resemble toy

Published December 12, 2014
Associated Press

CINCINNATI – Authorities in southwest Ohio say they have arrested a man with a loaded handgun painted red to resemble a toy.

The arrest Friday came just four days after legislation was introduced in Ohio to require that lookalike guns be brightly colored or otherwise marked. That bill came in the aftermath of two police fatal shootings in less than four months of young people who were holding lookalike guns.

Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil says it's "a scary thought" that guns would be painted to mislead police.

Police responding to a call about a man with a gun say they found 23-year-old Orlando Lowery with a red-painted .380-caliber handgun and 9 grams of cocaine. No attorney was listed for him.

If you are stupid enough to walk around with any kind of gun (toy or not) and point it at someone, fail to listen to police to drop a weapon or put your hands up, or get on the ground, THEN you deserve the consequences of your action.

Harsher penalties really need to be implemented for violent crimes and crimes involving shootings and guns. Prisons systems are becoming overfull, sentencing timelines are being shortened and these thugs are roaming the streets with law abiding citizens like you and me. Gang membership is higher than ever. How much more can we take?

Folks, IMO, it's time to start hanging these scum in public again. :vis:

Quick story for all of you:

When we were ready to deploy to operation Desert Shield, which became Desert Storm, my unit in Germany had a guy from my platoon get taken into custody by the Germany police. Soon the AG from our unit starting interviewing folks in and around our company. Once all of the facts, interviews and charges were given, the soldier was being charged with rape and murder of a German girl. When it came to sentencing, oddly enough, he had a choice of going to German prison or Fort Levenworth, KS. He quickly chose Fort Levenworth. Why???

The German prisons are known for their harshness. Hard labor, no TV, no radio, bread and water as your meals and my favorite "NO PAROLE", ever! The real reason we have so many prisoners isn't because of guns, drugs or high rates of crime. Its because the criminals don't fear the outcome. They know that if they are part of a capital crime, the punishment is weak and there is a possibility of parole. Plus, there are phones, TVs, 3 solid meals per day and they can even continue their education FOR FREE.

If we change the judicial system to one similar to other countries' crime will drop, fear is a motivating factor for people. It is what keeps us in line.
