Well, folks. I had to make a decision. The SRT stock exhaust isn't too bad and sounds just ok on hard acceleration. I need more. So I had a local speed shop order DMH exhaust cutouts yesterday (Monday).

The reason I went with DMH is that the JEGS and QTP offerings did not appear to allow variable opening of the cutouts. I will keep this thread updated with the progress of the install and include various videos to show off the look and sound. I don't expect any hp gain from these because back pressure gets lost. I just wanted to roar when I can and be quiet on highway trips. Let's see how it goes!

Cool!

I will look forward to your videos. I pursued this idea. The ONLY place I would trust to install a cut out system refused to do so with the cut outs before the catalytic converter. So, I figured, what's the use then. Along with the photos/videos, if you do not mind, I'd like to see the costs involved.
Keep on CHALLENGING!

Coyote,

I have had the DMH cutouts on my 09 6sp for just over 4 years now and hve not had one issue with them. I am very very satisfied and still enjoy opening them up on the back highways and having fun.

Latest news--the cutouts arrived at the install shop on Friday. Install is scheduled for Tuesday, can't wait. The maker of the cutouts recommends the cutouts be installed behind the headers and before the Cats. Sounds like the right place to me.

That is going to be LOUD!!!...LOL If they open according to RPM's and are between the headers and cats I could see some HP gains without losing anything down low. I am curious however with that placement if CEL's will be a problem.:4-dontknow:

just wondering - If the catalytic converters never heat up, won't the O2 sensors give incorrect readings. Are the O2 sensors mounted before and after the cats or in the headers/collectors/down pipes??

Update time. The cutouts were installed today. I'm in love. It's a beastly sound/roar. No error codes thrown at this point and they were placed behind the headers and in front of the mufflers. I can go back to stock sound at the press of a button. Apparently, the shop that installed them found it necessary to drive it 10 miles for testing, lol. The shop manager asked me to test it when I picked it up because he wanted to see the look on my face. I did not disappoint his expectations.

I will post pictures and video soon.

I hope they last you a long time, I've heard nothing but negative things about them stop opening and closing after a few weeks to a couple of months. Did you mount them after the ctas your describtion of their mounting is a bit confusing.

Can't wait to hear these puppies.

I know it sounds mean! We have a few guys with them. So did they end up between the cats & the mufflers? That's where most are installed.
No, they were placed in front of the mufflers. I know most videos show them between the mufflers and the resonators, but the install shop guy talked to the maker and he stated the best and now, recommended spot was in front of the mufflers.

So they would be after the cats, so I would think you should not get codes if they are placed there.

That would be right, between the cats & mufflers. I know a few guys that have them, gets loud when they are open.
