paint issue 2023 WB Scat

Does anyone know what this is- besides a paint defect? I tried a clay bar and compound to get it off and no dice.

It is located on the widebody flare. The car has less than 200miles on it.

I had 2 detailers look at it and they both said it is under the clear coat and came from the factory during paint process.

I bought the car out of town so Im not sure how much support I will get from them.

Yikes!! Sorry to see that. My advice is to talk to the dealer. One bad thing about out of town. Was it shipped to you without being able to see it? Dealerships hate me, like most I’m extremely picky and pay attention to the smallest details and make them fix any imperfections, cars cost to much money to come damaged.

The defect was noticed by a car detailer. We circled the car before the detail and this spot did not come up at all. I asked a another detailer if something could have been spilled on it and he replied its under the clear coat and must have happened during initial paint process.

Once mine was taken to be paint corrected and all the wax was removed, I was shocked to see all the scratches an imperfections in my paint. I did paint correction so luckily for me it took care of 99% of mine.

To fix this correctly it would mena replacing the entire fender flare and painting it white knuckle. Probably a grand!

I would definitely reach out to the dealer. Wouldn’t hurt anything, hopefully they stand by their car and treat you right.

Great advice and I just sent the dealership an email explaining the issue with pics. I also sent Dodge Corp a complaint asking for assistance. Lets see what happens with this saga.....

Go to any dealer for a warranty claim. It doesn't matter who sold you the car. The factory is responsible for warranty work not the dealer. The dealer is just the middle man who processes the warranty and does the repairs and gets paid from the factory. But yes, contact Dodgecares too. They may be able to contact your local dealer and put them on notice that corporate is interested in your fix.

That is a good idea and I don't want to have to drive to Louisiana.

That's the exact reason why I tell the dealership not to wash any of my factory ordered vehicles. They know to only do the PDI and nothing else. I tell them if you wash it I'll give you a 1, if you deliver it to me as-is off the carrier, I'll give you a 10 on the survey.

I saw this on a Challenger in a dealer showroom floor! No effort to even try and hide the chipped front edge of the door and the F8 green touch up paint looked like I was from a previous year, it was a bit darker.

That’s bad!!! They’ll hope to catch buyers off guard not paying attention to details. I’m not buying anything already damaged!
Dodge Cares is no involved and I am communicating with them. I really appreciate the FORUMS help!!!

Hopefully this will get resolved because It is really bothering me since I just dropped 65k on this car! I have contacted the dealership I purchased the vehicle from 2x and all I have heard back is crickets! Sad.... BTW: Beniot Dodge in LA...

The dealers in my town just don't care. Back when I was buying Mustangs, the first one I bought was yellow. They had all sorts of colors there but I ended up with the yellow one which was OK with me but not my first choice. But the reason was that it was the only Mustang in a row of them that didn't have door dings. Yes they were new cars. The last Challenger I bought at my local Dodge dealer before that dealer went bad and I now exclusively buy from the Phoenix area, when I got in for a test drive I looked out at the next Challenger and it had a huge dent in the fender. Also a new car. Those cars were regularly rotated on the lot so everyone who worked there must have seen it but they just didn't care.

Sadly, someone will buy it and not notice that touched up area. Hopefully it'll be someone just looking for a daily driver so it may not matter much to them.
