well, i have been really brain storming on how to make the engine bay look like something other then a cheap plastic looking cover over the engine. I really dont like it, i like to see the engine as it was made to be, hoping to get some coil/valve covers now just to make them stand out vs the plastic engine tent. I did some playing around with ideas, here is where im at, its not functional, working on that part still, but it looks alot nicer then the big plastic crap cover. Throwing it out there for anyone else that hates the plastic cover.

plastic cover

yep, it was the vararam air grabber setup, they could easily make it a fit for the challenger , i just wanted something better to look at when i open the hood, something to remind me of the old days :)

plastic cover

it would take them some remolding of the base plate to actually make one that would work, the ram has a smoke stack type throttle body vs the front loader on the challenger, with it as setup for a ram, it is way to tall, basically cut the bottom out minus enought to hold the filter and lid, but it would be something that vararam could market, for sure it is a winner on looks in the car, they could actually make it so you couuld get air from your scoops too with some work in the lab lol. it was just a frankenstein experiment for me, and i like it for sure. waiting for Vararam to call lol.

I think one of our members (or ex-members) had fabricated an intake with that type of filter set up. It was functional...........

for some reason the 2nd pic didnt take, this is where im at now.
I like the idea I'm tempted to do something similar this spring trying to mod an AFR shaker base to be used with the six pack air cleaner. I need to get my hood swapped out first though. Jake could you give me length, width, and height measurements for the six pack air cleaner.

Thanks
Jay

Nice I was talking to AFR about it so I'm hoping to look into that some more in the spring but that's why I was curious about the air cleaner measurements. I was looking at this shot when I got curious about heading down that path...

Take it easy

plastic covers

kind of like waiting for hurst to make a nice pistol grip lever for automatics vs the one that looks like a big handle on a lolipop stick, i have the hurst shifter that has a nice retro looking hurst logo lever that is held by set screws, and the hurst ball is nice, but would be nicer if they had a nice hurst logo top pistol grip screw on lever for it. Little things that matter in life lol.
