Hello, What do you think about programming the ECU? A neighbor who has a Demon recommended it to me. He tells me that with just the programming, the car will run much better and increase its horsepower by up to 100. My engine is a 6.4 SRT. Best regards.

Depending on what year you have you might need an unlocked computer. Diablo is a good company and they also sell unlocked computers for your car if it needs one. You won’t get a 100 horsepower either, maybe more in the 20 to 30 range.

Ivan, I don't mean to sound like an ahole but by the nature of your statements and questions you don't have the knowledge to be modifying your car. Do a lot of reading and studying before you proceed. That highly modified car of your neighbor is not even remotely comparable to yours. Back to your question, tuning on a stock 392 will likely give you around 25 safe, reliable HP as others have noted. For the cost it is probably the least expensive HP you can get but you must understand it's impact on the cars warranty. Good Luck.

Hi, Don't worry, all comments are welcome! Regarding the ECU, my neighbor told me that I absolutely had to replace the ECU and reprogram it before modifying anything. Of course, his car has nothing to do with it; it's fully modified, he's prepared it for racing.

For reference a pro stock drag race car, which is around 500 cubic inches(8 liters) makes around 1500 horsepower. They don’t have forced induction and run on gas but have pretty much hit the limits of what an engine running gas can make. After market companies, Hennessy for example, are getting around 1000 hp out of forced induction 392 engines. My point is don’t take advice from someone saying there 392 is making 1600 hp. It certainly is possible but unlikely such a car is even streetable.

He recommended replacing the ECU and exhaust manifolds, and that's already noticeable. For now, what I want is to get a good exhaust sound. I'm going to try removing the rear mufflers to see how the sound goes.

You can either alter the ECU in your car to accept modifications or replace it with another ECU that has been altered to accept modifications. I see no advantage to purchasing another ECU that has been altered to accept modifications. The exhaust manifolds on your car are actually short tube headers, the same ones used on Hellcats with over 800 HP. If your goal is sound related, its less expensive and more effective to change components downstream of the exhaust manifolds.

If ur gonna do it, go with HP tuners. Not a fan of Diablo from my personal experience. HP lets u eaither do it yourself if your knowledgeable or learning, and IMO they have better tuners u can go thru, there vcm scanner (once figured out) it’s damn good. For me Diablo was a decent starting point but I wish I had originally went thru HP,

Diablo tuner + cracked PCM + tune provided by a remote tuner (based on your data logs) probably will get you in the neighborhood of 20 - 25 HP. Shop around for a remote tuner, a lot of people who originally used Hemifever moved on to someone else after gaining experience with tuning their car and working with a remote tuner.

Ya I don’t like hemi fever. I had a few revisions done by him. Sooo I know everyone’s differsnt. But me personally I need to know what’s being sent to me. He seems more of a person who sends tunes to newbies. I told him what I had. And he just sent me tunes. He sent it so fast that u could tell he just has em saved. Drag paste. Which is fine but I like to know what’s going on. So then I asked for a transmission tune. And he sent one within 2 min of me asking about it and didn’t even ask me a single question. No “what’s are u looking for” “what are your goals” “how’s it running” “anything u don’t like”

Just felt like a fending machine of tunes, very very conservative tunes,
. Now as for horsepower thru hp tuners. . There’s a lot of factors. What mods ur running. Current status on fuel trims. How aggressive or conservative ur willing to go with it. Future mods. Things like that. I haven’t gotten mine dyno but I know the numbers are probibly minimum because v6 but once I hit I hit a wall of upgrades where all that’s left is boosting I’ll probibly get before and after gains checked out.
