I own a 2012 R/T 6-speed, all stock, and for now what I want to focus on is making a change to that stock exhaust!

I've researched what most owners have done in my situation have been either to go with a cat-back exhaust change, or a resonator delete with either adding a Dynomax VT, or Blastin Bobs, etc. I've read that others have reported issues with the Dynomax VT's giving off a "rattling sound", after several thousand miles. I did like the sound it gave off at WOT and the smoothness at idle and cruise. I do not want to experience the rattling sound down the road, however.

Three things are what matter most:
Good quality of sound and build
Low cost
No drone

Here's my question - for those of you were in my position at one point and made changes to your exhaust years ago (and are still satisfied with it), what was it YOU did to your exhaust?

I have the Corsa Xtreme and wouldn't change it out for anything else. RSC Technology has no drone and sounds awesome when your going through the gears. And it's made right here in Berea, OH. Keep it in mind it's not cheap. But then again this is a a one-and-done mod. The cheaper you go, expect some drone and possibly some really bad drone. Good luck !

I have a 2010 R/T Auto and went with Corsa Xtreme as well. I love my car, and the idea of having to listen to drone, or explain why the car I spend so much time on has such an annoying sound at times , just wasn't my plan. I know drone is subjective...from "cannot even tell" to "gives me a headache"... but I wanted to do exhaust once.

It is not an inexpensive choice though, and today I would probably also investigate Solo now as well... been hearing good things and they are a little less pricey.

The Corsa sounds even better today, as it did seem to have a break in period.

I have a 2012 R/T Automatic. Deleted the Reso's and added DynoMax Ultra's (louder than the VT's). I have 13K miles on my car and it never sounded better. I love it!

I first went with Blastin Bobs Magnaflow glass packs. Nice but a little drone and not quite loud enough. Then I removed them and had the local muffler shop weld on strait pipes instead. Better sound and very little to no drone (only noticeable with the windows up and radio off at 1800-2000 rpm). I think the welding instead of the clamping may help the drone a bit, but that's just my theory. Should only run about $150 or so at a muffler shop to have it done.

I still haven't pulled the trigger on an exhaust system yet, but from what I've researched it seems like the Solo Mach X catback system is a really great deal for what you get. Stainless steel piping, fits great, sounds awesome, no drone, and the system is only $692 shipped to your door I believe, maybe $725 with the quad tips. Most other catbacks are $1,000+.

If your budget is a little looser the Corsa Extreme is really nice. I also like the sound of the Borla S-Type and Atak systems. Zoomers also makes a really mean deep sounding catback.

I think for the money the Solo system is pretty hard to beat. You'll pay around $200-300 to do a resonator delete unless you go with a straight pipe which most people complain about the noise level and drone then. So for a few hundred more you can get a quality full catback system.

I really like the stock system on these 6 speeds but agree that it could definitely be louder.

I have long considered pulling the trigger on a Corsa Extreme, mainly due to the claims (and verification) that there is zero drone when installed on automatics. While the sound may not be the loudest, that actually plays into what I'm seeking anyway, especially when since I think the stock exhaust on my R/T doesn't sound bad to begin with, and I have don't want to end up with a sharp staccato exhaust note.

To the OP, determine whether the response in any of these replies are from an owner of an automatic or a 6 speed. The exhaust note may be different for the same system on different transmission platforms. Also, what constitutes great sound is in the ear of the modder. What sounds awesome to one driver may not sound so hot to another.

Helpful comments, everyone! I like two of these options - 1) Mid muffler deletes, and keep resonators, or 2) Solo Mach-X catback

I went on youtube and tried to do a side by side comparison, of what the two sound like. Hard to find a real side by side comparison because of how the owners revved their cars, and one drove it the other owner didn't, etc.

Questions for Poolplyrb5blue, BkChallenger, and Cdahl383:

Do you have any sound/video clips of your challenger with the exhaust set up?
Can you tell me what the all in cost you (with labor, if you paid someone to do it) to have your muffler delete (poolplyrb5blue) or Solo Mach-X (BkChallenger)?

I actually don't have the Solo exhaust, still have the stock exhaust on my car. I was just providing some insight based on a lot of research I did over the last year or so trying to determine which exhaust I liked best. Seems to me the Solo is the best value out there.

Solo has several Youtube video clips that you can listen to and there are plenty of owner clips on Youtube as well. I would recommend listening to them with headphones to get a little fuller sound. Obviously hearing it in person would be best, but that's not always an option.

Like others have mentioned... I also have the Blastin Bobs delete kit... Total with installation, 200$... best money spent. Can be loud (I like it)... but with the six speed it is easily dealt with. I am constantly getting compliments on the sound...
